[QLD] Standard Movie Tickets: Adult $9, Child $8 @ Birch Carroll & Coyle, Capalaba (Free Cinebuzz Membership Required)

70

Great price for standard 2D (eg not 3D, Vmax or Gold Class) sessions. BCC (Event) Capalaba is a good and, surprisingly, uncrowded cinema complex in bayside Redlands - located within the Capalaba Central shopping centre.

Cinebuzz members pay $9 for adult admission, and $8 children admission. Adult tickets at other Brisbane Event cinemas are priced around $21 per standard "original" seat, or around $15 for Cinebuzz members.

(and I am a local and regularly see movies at various cinemas around Brisbane. The BCC Capalaba cinemas are handy to supermarkets and takeaways including Nandos.)

  • Once you have been to the Cinemas at Capalaba you will understand why the tickets are $9.
I'm guessing OP is not a local.

  • +1

It’s always been that price or cheaper. And you wouldn’t want to pay any more at Capalaba either. When you go there you’ll see why the tickets are cheaper than other cinemas.

  • These cinemas are fine, can pop downstairs to Coles/Woolworths and grab snacks and drinks if you are so inclined. Of course the snacks at the cinema would cost an entire mortgage repayment.

    • @loulou1 They are really not, the seats are from the early 90s and they rock back when you sit in them.

      • If you get a seat you are unhappy with the attendants are always happy to move your ticket to another seat.
They certainly aren’t good class by any means but we have found them perfectly ok

All seats are bad lol, you also don't need to ask to move seats as its always quite.

We now go to Wynnum (Members) or use Telstra to get $10 Event tickets at Carindale.
Even the kids think its rank at Capalaba

absolute rubbish - I regularly go to Event Capalaba cinemas and have not once had any issue with seating or cleanliness (unlike at one or two other more expensive theatres in Brisbane). The seats aren't 'gold class' but are quite comfortable (and I have a back issue). Most nightly sessions, the attendants don't have a problem with patrons selecting any seat they want (even not stick to allocated seats if not busy). Happy for you and the 'kids' to go to Wynnum or Carindale.

@curt67 Cool your jets, you are getting in a rage about stuff I didn't even say, there was no mention of it being unclean.

My only call out is you get what you pay for, cheap tickets means a cheap experience (seats, sound, screen)

@Jessie Ryder: To take your direct statement, "Even the kids think its rank at Capalaba" and "ALL seats are bad". The meaning of "rank" is "offensive in odour or flavour, rancid, shockingly conspicuous, offensively gross or coarse, foul"…..https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/rank.

Cool your jets mate because you seem to be very loose on your words that are open to misinterpretation/innuendo and unfair to good businesses.

            • @puglikesabargain: Here are a couple of the latest reviews, I think 'rank' is a pretty valid description tbh

"2 stars off for lacsidasical staff & the cinema STINKS of mould, mustiness & pee! $10 for large popcorn- why?! This stuff costs zilch to make. Cheap tix tho,"

"the place has been in need of fixing up for years.
The toilets don't ever seem to be attended to between sessions."

"Easy to park, friendly staff, but… old chairs, not so comfortable, smelling old and mold with a medium size screen!!"

              Anyway, keep supporting champ.

              • @Jessie Ryder: yeah "champ" two exaggerated reviews from an unknown and potentially unreliable source is hardly representative feedback of customers of this Greater Union Organisation (BCC/Event) cinema, laughing aloud here. I am sure there are at least two patrons who are quite happy with their affordable movie experience at Capalaba. Love to know what planet certain people live on, maybe they should follow you and your kids to Wynnum and Carindale lolllllllll

Yep I will continue to support any business which gives a very good deal, and I'm sure anyone of OzBargain who's on a budget and has a brain do too. Anyway pay more for your movies elsewhere champ.

  • You sound butthurt, do you work there lol?

Anyway rockstar, look at my first reply, pretty factual.

"Once you have been to the Cinemas at Capalaba you will understand why the tickets are $9."

No champ I don't work there lollll, but do enjoy movies there at a good price. I'm not a typical keyboard warrior like yourself but am definitely a "rockstar" with much better things to do than to pile on negativity about good businesses, and continue to read your rubbish replies. We really do live in a happy place :)

  • Have only been once never again better off at vmax at browns plains
