Are people actually buying these types of luggage for international travels as imo these present a risk due to safety etc from anyone sliding something into your outside pocket. unless you want to spend money for wrapping the luggage.
    happy to be corrected.

Well it depends. Though you are right that their is a risk for someone putting something but one has to be very careful of not letting their luggage out of their sight.

      • Unsure if that is possible to keep an eye unless travel on luggage conveyer and Sit tightly in the luggage compartment of a long distance flight.

I don't really understand this fear. Do you think that is what happened to Schapelle Corby?

      • Unlike American Tourister, Innocent young Schapelle was an Australian Tourister and used boogey boards.

    • What's stopping someone from slipping something into your bag that's stored in the overhead compartment inside the plane? Or when you go to the toilet?

      • +1

I guess a TSA lock in a hard-shell luggage will stop someone from slipping in overhead compartments.

This is why when I get on the plane - i wrap myself in cling film so no one can put anything in my pockets.

Pretty easy to just use cheap small cable ties on the outside zippers if that risk bothers you - secure and accessible by airport security if needed.

As someone who (pre covid) used to travel o/s frequently I much prefer this type of soft case to oyster shells as they are much more capable of surviving and absorbing baggage handling mishaps.

Biggest potential area of damage is the wheels - which can totally ruin your holiday if one of them fails. It is the one area where manufacturers have dropped the ball over recent years. Reviews on this one are very good.

  • I'd say the only true Eco way to buy something is second hand

    • If you time it right, they just slide past, free for the taking on the conveyor.

    • Hearing people say "I bought this suitcase second hand" when drug traces are detected on Border Security is enough to freak me out.

      • it was free at the airport to being back just wasnt allowed to look inside

I bought this suitcase from strandbags for $220 in December. Survived the handling from the melbourne airport baggage handlers… unlike my Mrs' brand new Antler suitcase!

Pretty good case, i'd wait for a strandbags sale or cashback at myer..
