Gaming PC, Is This Good Specs? - Budget $2,000

Hi all,

Looking to upgrade my gaming PC (want to keep around 2k ish mark), some parts are not needed as I already have them. Please below;

  • Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240L ARGB V2 AIO Liquid CPU Cooler
  • MSI VENTUS 3X OC GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12 GB Video Card
  • MSI PRO B660M-A WIFI DDR4 Micro ATX LGA1700 Motherboard
  • Intel Core i5-12600KF 3.7 GHz 10-Core Processor (13th generation)
  • Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory

edit: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/dH8GZw

have updated the parts list (some are missing as I already own the parts :) ) let me know if these are decent.

(Already have a case ( Phanteks Eclipse G360A), SSD and OS) cheers for any feedback, is it decent or can get better and cheaper price/wait it out for GPU/CPU?

Might want to get the Corsair SF750 instead

    • Agreed, 600W might not be enough

Gigabyte Eagle is one of worse models, might want to look for something better

    • anything ‘gigabyte’ is

The manual for your case indicates it fits a regular ATX power supply, not an SFX power supply.

    • thank you for the heads up! :)

        Corsair RM850x $189. Dead silent.
And smaller, very nice case, bit unusual but looks awesome, thick steel (requires microATX mobo though): InWin 301C

Yes go with atx and you might save some $. Arctic Liquidfreezer is good for aios (havent checked how big the price diff is)

the 12600k doesn't run hot so you don't need an AIO. I've got one running on a Deepcool AK400 and it sits around 60-65C under load.

Also you could look at getting a B660 board instead of a Z690. You could either save money there or get a better quality board.
    https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/motherboards/intel-socke…

Definitely get at least a 750W PSU, ideally 850W though.

You've also listed DDR5 RAM but you're on a DDR4 platform. Just get 3600MHz DDR4 - it's pretty much all compatible now and would be fast enough for your listed CPU & GPU
    https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/memory/ddr4/88506-f4-360…

If this leaves you with cash to spare you could look at getting a 13600k but then you'd ideally want a Z790 board with DDR5 which pushes the whole price up, I'd sink the extra money into a 4080 instead of a 4070ti if you're at that point.

    Hope this helps! Have fun!

    • Cheers! well I was dumb not realising I had DDR5 and DDR4 haha..is it worth going with a mobo that supports DDR5 or I should hold off? it was more for supporting future upgrades when DDR5 becomes the main one?

The speed increase you’ll get with DDR5 vs DDR4 at the moment isn’t worth it in my opinion. And if you’re talking “future proofing” well the socket will be obsolete in a year or two anyway so I say just go for bang for buck now.

Also DDR5 ram is very specific so if you do want it, make sure you look at the mobo specs on the manufacturer website and make sure it supports the exact sticks you plan to get. DDR5 is still fairly new so full compatibility is not quite there yet.

But yeah, I’d be looking at 13th gen Intel or a 4080 if you want noticeable performance improvements over what you’ve listed anyway.

        • Cheers!

I have adjusted my parts, do you reckon this is decent? thank you for the heads up / advice! a computer noob :-)

@HereYeeHereYee: Yeah mate that’s a solid build for the price! Only thing I’ll mention is the 12600KF doesn’t have integrated gpu, which is fine obvs as you’re running the 4070, but if you need to troubleshoot it’s handy to have integrated graphics (hdmi port on your motherboard).

If you can get the 12600K for the same price, that has an igpu so could be helpful in a pinch but yeah, up to you and depends how cheap you can find it. I just had a look at scorptec and it’s only $10 more so I’d do it personally. But yeah solid performance… Especially with games that support DLSS3/frame generation!!

            Have fun :)
