[PS5, XSX] Hogwarts Legacy $89 ($79 with Perks) + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

334

Was trying to find a good deal on this game! Checked JB, noticed perks and all you had to do was put in your email and verify your phone number and bam Code in your email!

$79 for a new release game is pretty decent, and I’m pretty sure the $10 voucher can be used sitewide!

No, some unbalanced people decided to despite it doing nothing to JK and actually only hurting the devs.

      • -7

Yeah exactly, any associations with JK are legally binding and not their fault

Regardless of who created it and how god awful they are, the world of Hogwarts isnt, it's too important to our culture to simply be boycott at every turn I think

        • -2

          Stop talking sense :)

        • +15

Are you serious? JK is a gem! This entire universe is her brainchild and hers alone.

      • Umm, dude - it has EVERYTHING to do with JK. The whole universe is her brilliant brainchild - and hers alone.

        • -1

Umm, dude - reread. Didnt say the game has nothing to do with JK, though it doesnt apart from she created the world as she had zero input on anything to do with the game, I said them boycotting does nothing to her.

          • @Ravensbane: Incorrect, she gets royalties from the game, purchasing it is directly financially enriching her.

            • +1

@Intoxicoligist: Incorrect. She got a lump sum for the licence that is owned by WB. She doesnt get money per game sold, its false information thrown about by those trying to boycott it. She gets paid the same even if the game bombed and 1 copy sold, or its a hit and 100m get sold. Just like Amazon paid X amount for the licence to Tolkiens work.

              • @Ravensbane: Eh, Forbes reports otherwise
"J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter novel series who has a history of making comments offensive to the transgender community and stands to earn royalties from game sales"

                https://www.forbes.com/sites/conormurray/2023/02/07/hogwarts…

                • +3

@Intoxicoligist: Can you please provide direct links to JK Rowling comments where she is making comments offensive to the transgender community? Not links to other sources - direct links to HER comments?

                  • -1

@krushgroove: " At the same time, I do not want to make natal girls and women less safe. When you throw open the doors of bathrooms and changing rooms to any man who believes or feels he’s a woman – and, as I’ve said, gender confirmation certificates may now be granted without any need for surgery or hormones – then you open the door to any and all men who wish to come inside. That is the simple truth."

        I'll be honest I don't care.

Do I like the fact that she's openly hateful? No not particuarly. I'm also not going to not play a really fun game to make sure she doesn't get $0.50. She won't feel whether people boycott or not. Just buy the game if you like Open World Action RPGS and the HP universe. Screw self sabotaging your own fun to make a stand no one gives a crap about.

        • +6

I'm not a Harry Potter fan but am considering buying this game based on the positivity around it. Need to catch up a bit, I didn't realise JK was involved in this controversy. I've spent some time looking for her openly hateful comments. I'll be honest, I'm struggling to find them. I do see JK sharing opinions and discussing what she believes to be the definition of a woman, but nothing I would consider serious.

I would like to investigate further. If anyone has any examples, please let me know.

        • +1

Can you please provide direct links to JK Rowling comments where she is openly hateful? Not links to other sources - direct links to HER comments?

          • @krushgroove: I'll be honest I literally don't care about what she's said so if she's not openly hateful that's great. Ultimately doesn't affect my buying decisions. I just know some people really dislike her and want to boycott her products, which is so weird cos it doesn't affect her in the slightest.

        • +2

I have zero idea about the controversies. All I know is this game is fun AF and far surpassed expectations of what a good HP would be. No ragrets.

LOL… Some Fr33 7h1nk3r5 decided that they were going to boycott, but no-one else is allowed to think for themselves, so we all should do what they demand.

I probably wouldn't have given this title a second look… It just not my type of game. All the attention has had the opposite effect of making me interested enough to give it a go. Well done to the vocal minority!

    • +3

A few outspoken commies do not speak for all of OzB.

    • +1

The game is pretty mid and performs like toilet water on PC, that's the only reason I'd boycott it.

      • -5

Just get an Intel CPU - it performs great.
OFC AMDip is another story… But you FAFO if you buy AMD…

        • +2

Yeah absolutely no reason why modern Ryzen CPUs are gimped by this game.
I refunded pretty quickly the moment I got to 20ish FPS on a 3080 + 5800x lol, maybe I'll give it another try once they've fixed that.

      • +1

i want to know how my toilet water can perform like a game, please do tell

    • +4

      only the snowflakes…

    • +4

Nope, just seems like you my blue haired septum friend

    • +2

Nope, some mentally ill people on Twatter decided to boycott it based on their own lies and stupidity. The rest of us just think they're all idiots.

    • +3

Plenty of people have and that’s their right to just as much as people have a right to buy it.

The association of the game with JKR is enough for people to feel that way and shouldn’t be ridiculed for it just because it’s not otters thoughts on the matter!

      • This makes no sense though because anything to do with Harry Potter will always be attached to JKR as she created the whole universe.

      • Half correct. People are free to buy or not buy. Also, people are free to ridicule.

    • +2

      We?

Lol did i miss the ozbargain memo?

    • +5

No, reddit decided to boycott this game, and I could not be more happier that this game has done so well pre launch it broke records for pre order sales and also broke twitch records.
Goes to show the VERY loud minority on reddit has little affect on the general population! They can stick to what they do best and that is complaining about everything in life like this mod:

Hate Fox News but love this brutal takedown that this guy definitely needed

    • +3

      brain washed!

    • 300k early access users speak volumes. This game is absolutely amazing! GOTY written all over it. Do yourself a favour and drop those pennies. SIUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • -4

Funny thing is its only $70 on the Nintendo Switch (Amazon/Harvey Norman).

    • +2

Hogwarts Legacy will launch on April 4, 2023 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and on July 25, 2023 for Nintendo Switch. The team is looking forward to bringing you the game and we want to deliver the best possible game experience across all platforms.

and will look like its running on a potato

  • +4

Could price match Amazon $79.99 and use perks to get it for $69.99.
    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08JQLLDB4

    • -2

$79 is cheaper than $79.99, so why PM?

      • +5

You need perks to get the $79, the JB OG price is $89

        • Right the post has been edited, was showing $79 earlier.

  • +2

..is the deal signing up to the Perks voucher?

    $89 is rrp right?

  • +10

    Not cheapest. Amazon & Big W $79.99

    • get them to price match and use that voucher

    • Amazon is that cheap. Big W is not for the PS5 copy.

    • Big W still showing $89 online?

  • +29

Pretty sure everyone on here has signed up to Perks by now and used their voucher and we can stop claiming it to be a deal…

    • I still had one expiring 3rd March and just used to get this for a tenner off Amazon and pickup today to play over the weekend. Win!

      • Did JB Price match Amazon?

        • Yes they did for me. $69.99 with $10 perks code.

  • +14

Most streamed single player game in Twitch history. Boycott going well and definitely not a vocal minority!

  • +11

yeah all the crying about it just made me pay more attention to the game and spite buy.

    • +5

Did exactly that yesterday. Second time bought a game one release day - this time just to go against the so called boycott.

  • +5

100% great game. A few performance issues in Hogwarts, but otherwise, pretty much what everyone wanted from a Harry Potter game.

  • +9

Ridiculous "boycott" of mentally broken and biased people. Enjoy the game and have a nice time. :)

  • +6

Awesome game i am loving it.

    • -2

Maccas wants to take you to court

  • Might be able to price match with Mighty ape for $79.99 Inc shipping and then apply JB perks voucher making it $69.99.

JBHifi said " Unfortunately, the store you were hoping to price match only sells grey imported stock - we are unable to price match due to this being international stock, if there was somewhere else you wished to price-match to I'd be happy to see if I can do that for you though :)"

  • +1

    I can't see the bargain

  • -5

So many bigots are buying this because they're anti-trans, but the game is crap.

Like cutting off your nose to spite your face! 😆

    • +2

Curious how exactly this game is anti trans. I'm about 10 hours in and haven't come across anything like that.
In fact i would argue it's actually quite friendly to the community. Can make your person with male features but identify as a female and live in the girl dormitory and vice versa. Even has a blatantly trans character who is portrayed in a positive light

      • I don't think the game itself is anti-trans, apart from it being based on Rowling's books, but some people are buying it because they think it is anti-trans.

  • +2

I was very skeptical about this game but heard from a friends the reviews have been really good. Decided to get it for the wife and we played some last night and it blew my mind how well they captured the HP world we know from the movies. Everything feels so accurate and well adapted. 1 hr in and very impressed by this game so far.

  • i cant remember the last time i brought a game at release but just because it is turning into a bit of an anti woke thing to own this game i have got the deluxe edition ;p
