Sold out quickly last time. Back in stock. $128 eBay Plus only

Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. is considered to be one of the founding fathers of the bourbon industry. As such, you know any whiskey bearing his name would have to be more than just good. It would have to be extraordinary. Handcrafted, this small batch bourbon is aged in barrels personally selected by Buffalo Trace's Master Distiller and aged in century old warehouses built by E.H. Taylor himself. E.H. Taylor Small Batch is a true sipper with a nose that is full of caramel, butterscotch and multigrain bread. On the palate, it opens with vanilla and charred oak spices followed by fruit and floral notes.

Excludes: Northern Territory, QLD Far North, QLD Regional, SA Regional, Tasmania, VIC Regional, WA Regional, WA Remote.

This appears to be cheaper than it is in the US. I can't see it cheaper than $130US.

    • When this first arrived in Australia, it was going for about $300 RRP. $128 is a steal.

US bourbon prices have gone insane over the past few years. Regular shit like Weller 12 or 107 is allocated. Even Eagle Rare, not the BTAC, just the regular 10yo is getting close to 100USD depending on the state.

I posted the last deal to this, but I am going to Neg the deal and Boozebud.
Ordered a Glendronach 21yr at the same time as this.
    - Over a week has past and the Glendronach never arrived
    - I emailed and asked and they said sorry there was a delay
    - Several days passed and then they said they had no stock - I said I will wait.
    - Several days after this, sorry we will refund or you can choose a different product within $5 either side (no they don't have any products $5 either side

I reached out to other people that ordered, as we questioned if anyone received the product, and we were all getting different responses.

I wonder if anyone actually received the product.

So my thoughts on boozebud - lack of communication, lack of product offerings, won't tell the whole truth

    Look elsewhere

Haha, I had the exact same experience regarding GD21, ordered 2 neither delivered. It would have been deal of the year

    • Same here.

Just on this I bought one bottle from the previous deal and I got it arrived within 1 week no dramas. So I guess it could be random or other items in the same order that held up the fulfilment

    • Just another anecdote, bought 2 of these and both were delivered no problems. Im thinking perhaps they accidentally oversold or they had some theft and were short stock. I can't see how not honouring these deals is in their best interest. good luck with your future buys!

Good buy. Snagged a couple last time around, one of the best in semi premium bourbon range.

@hootch was disappointed with Glendronach 21 non-fulfilment last time, is there any stock coming for that one?

    • I was certainly disappointed

  • My thoughts on the actual Bourbon in question:

I would have to say the bourbon itself is quite one dimensional and lacked any depth or change in flavour profile and not worth the price tag.

Unfortunately, this is the trend for whisky and bourbon these days, the price increase is not justifiable to the product on offer. (it would have been if they sent me my Glendronach 21)

    • What alternative bourbon would you recommend?

      • Mr Rosebank, I think you are more qualified for the recommendation here on bourbon, I am only commenting on my palate as it is.
My friend bought back a bottle of Rowans Creek from the states that I really enjoyed thou, but I haven't seen it here.
I am a more experienced whisky drinker myself.

Rowan's Creek and Noah's Mill (both Willett/KBD) are great and around the same price, and you can get them here. I believe Rowan's Creek is a high rye mashbill compared to this which is more corn forward. I think you'd enjoy Wild Turkey Rare Breed or even WT 101 (my go-to cheap bourbon)

          • +1

@rosebank: Rare breed is really good. I found it for either 79 or 89 a couple of years ago. Shop around. Some bottle o's have it cheaper than the bigger guys.

            • @MickyJ87: I don't really buy much whisk(e)y these days, I only check sites occasionally and the indy bottlos I'm friendly with, but I'll keep an eye out. But I'm quite happy with 101.

Can't go wrong with 4 Roses as a sippin' bourbon. Some may scorn at my unsophisticated palate but bang for buck it's a great drink, plenty smooth and mellow.

        • +1

4R Single Barrel is great! I can't believe I forgot about it because 4R is one of my favourite distilleries. They used to do special single cask barrel proof ones with different mashbills and types of yeast for K&L Wines in the US. There were so many Like OBSK, OESV etc and they were only about $60USD. The yearly LE Small Batch and Single Barrels are fantastic.

          • +1

@rosebank: Yes, some very decent drops they make and it doesn't cost the earth.

    • It's nice if you like the buffalo trace mash bill, but I have to agree. Do you have any you would reccomend around this price range? I haven't tried many bourbons but for the money I think wild turkey rare breed is a better whiskey than this one. (But I do like this one)

      • Rare Breed is great. So is 101.

There's Booker's, Old Ezra, Noahs Mill, Rowans Creek… that's about it for high proof bourbon.

        • +1

I think it was you that told me to buy WT101, so I would like to thank you. Great bourbon especially considering the cost. It's on my "always have a bottle" list now

          • @Drpepper666: Nice, glad you like it. I used to buy cases of it when it was under $50 on sale. I think it also used to come in 1L bottles

    • WT101 or Makers 46 ( or 45% BT if you can get it) IMO for affordable bourbons when on special (both have gone up by around 30-40% recently though)

For something premium, Blanton's reserve, WT Rare Breed and Taylor (at this price) are a good buy for 120ish

Blanton STFB or Weller 12 for a special treat. Both you can get retail for 250ish (still expensive I know) but much better value then BTAC or allocation releases

      • Blanton STFB or Weller 12 for a special treat. Both you can get retail for 250ish

I haven't seen Blanton's Gold or SFTB anywhere for years, they used to be around $120. Weller 12 is an incredibly average wheater that has been so overhyped that it's now allocated in the US and ridiculously priced. 107 is better but also overpriced. I'd honestly just pay $700 or so for William Larue Weller which is actually good.

        • Hot tip: Check out you local Dan's for STFB, you may be surprised.

Weller 12 vs 107, 107 wins hands down but also impossible to get. Has Weller 12 and Pappy 10 in a blind tasting, preferred the W12 which is 3rd the price

I myself am more of a malt person and cannot justify BTAC prices when some tremendous stuff is available for less in malt varity.

          • @Swanson approved: STFB is $223 at Dans, I like it but it's a $120 bourbon to me. Old Rip is also average just like Weller 12, and also Lot B. The only good Pappy is the 15 (the "real" Pappys are the 15, 20 and 23)

I'm also primarily a malt guy, but it's nice to mix it up once in a while.

I'm going to have to go home and double check, as I've only recently drunk the one from the last deal, and only once.

I wasn't expecting much, so that may have tempered expectations, but I found it to be quite decent. Considering a fairly nondescript bottle of Eagle Rare 10 is >$100 these days.

For the higher ABV, it was very smooth. It had good notes of oak, with a few other things milling about below it.

I don't really get into the whole "notes of leather, caramel, and honey with a body of tobacco and…"etc. That's all too nonsense for me, even 'experts' cant agree on what's there.

It's just $130 bottle, that's smooth, 'substantial' (not weak/watery/alocohol-y like the abovementioned Eagle Rare), with a nice oaky taste.

Does it compare to a BTAC or pappy? no. It's also not 2 grand.

Very good bourbon, gonna add a couple to my stash.

Great bottle to buy so you can take a photo of the bottle on your crotch and post it on r/whiskey saying "bought this, how did I do?" and get 1000 updoots

for the same price, the EHT is a no-brainer.

Jfc eagle rare is $125? I remember it being $70 and still not worth it

          Agree. I'm not a fan.

  • Thanks op
Last bottle was delish and I'm almost out
