Samsung Galaxy A13 5G $1 Per Month + $49 Per Month SIM Plan over 36 Months @ Optus

124

Was trying to negotiate my plan down and rep offered to add this on this phone to my plan for $1.00 per month for 36 months (or $1.50 for 24 months). I just went with the cheapest $49/ month plan which is the cheapest post paid plan that they have. I already negotiated a $20 discount for 12 months and the rep extended the discount over the 36 months so basically paying $30/ month for a phone plan and a phone i won't use.

No brainer for anyone who is still hasn't left Optus and are currently not on any phone plans.

Data and privacy breach also thrown in at no additional cost.

  • some eligible postcodes (especially regional areas) can select Save $20/month for 12 months on SIM plans PLUS above phone either 24 months or 36 months.
Save $20/month for 12 months on SIM plans

  • I think it should be stated on title that it's + monthly sim plan cost.

    • Agree, otherwise you can add a post for all Optus phones you can add to a $49 plan.

But those phones don't come up to $36 which is the deal.

    • Done.

  • Can anyone please help with this. I've just finished paying my phone with Vodafone and planning to get a new Iphone 14 pro or Max but of course want the best offer. What do you recommend? I don't mind changing service provider. Are the JB-HIFI Telstra deals still the best way to go? Any other options? Thanks

    • Go back to Vodafone and get 1000$ off for 14 Max
Not sure if available for 14 Pro

get the cheapest sim plan you can like amaysim and buy the phone outright at the cheapest price you can.

The Money you save on the Sim plan will outweigh any costs you save on the phone through one of the more expensive long term contract plans

  • Good if u need 5G although if not Aldi with Telstra network would be cheaper. Currently 24gb (over a year inc the bonus 25gb) but its roll-over so u don't loose what u don't use. And $25 a month without needing to lock in for 24/36months!!

Where's the bargain here?. It says you need to sign up to a 36 month contract (calling it a phone payment term) and then also forcing you onto an Optus plan for the 36 months and the cheapest plan is $49 per month that's $1,764 + $36 ($1 per month for phone) which makes that a very expensive smartphone. Stuff that if any one calls this a deal. I won't touch this with a 10 foot pole.

Who signs up to a $49 per month plan just to score this phone. You must be a total fool if you do. There's plenty of prepaid unlimited calls plans for $15 per month that are better suited for this phone.

You must have rocks for brains if you sign up for this for a phone which is only worth $330. In the end you're paying $1,800 total over 36 months. That's no bargain at all.

36 months plan is not a deal

    • It’s available on the 24 month plan as well. The phone price is still the same.

Yeah but it still makes it expensive if you factor in the phone plan. Got to pay $1,176 over 24 months to keep the phone plan active. You can go out and buy the phone outright for around $350. Unless you want an over priced phone plan for years with Optus then it doesn't make any financial sence. But then who wants to be stuck with Optus for 2 or 3 years.

$349 outright for the phone plus say $15 per month over 24 months for some thing like Kogan Mobile Small $15 plan or the Aldi Mobile $15 plan is $360 = $709 total. You still get unlimited calls. And you're not stuck into any particular provider being prepaid mobile. And you've pocketed a few hundred dollars for some thing extra like a large size SD card for the phone or some thing else. Rather than all this extra money going to Optus.

    • Agreed, this is extremely expensive TCO for that sort of phone.

  • So if you cancel you are only up for $36 plus one month?

Omg did you just paid $1765 for a low end A13? 🙈

I only purchase Samsung phones when it's around 50% off RRP, usually 7-9 months after it first launched. Plus using 10% off gift card.

Sim hopping between Boost and Amaysim with cash reward makes my sim cards free all year round.

I never understand why people jump on a 24/36m contract.

Please return your oz bargain licence.

  • 36 months on floptus. ROTFL
how many times you will have to change your driver licence in the time period…..

Dude did you just voluntarily sentence yourself to 3 years of 30GB/month on Optus and a crappy phone or did an Optus employee hold you hostage until you agreed to this lol

    No brainer

Yeah certainly no brains were involved in the decision making process. You don't even get free Optus sport any longer..

  • Even on a $10 plan I would not touch Optus.

  • 36 month contract, will this phone last 3 years?

  • Lol 😆 no thanks. 36 months with no flexibility is bad.

  • I was given this model but on telstra. No nfc no dual sim 4gb ram which is crap not sure if optus model has same specs?

Sorry Dude, but the A13 is bad and Optus is Terrbile, and a 36 months contract on this is just nutz.

You will have to pay $1 for the handset for nest 36 months and $29 for next 12 months for the plan .

  • +1

    My understaning is

    you pay $1 for 36months
but the plan is 12month contract only

This is what Optus chat have told me.

    Seems ok?

    • +1

confirm if you got it on a 12 mth contract at $29 per month and $1 x 36mths for phone? i guess it would cover the value of phone.

      • +1

        confirmed.

So, $36 phone for a spare cheapy seems ok to me.
