Hopefully heavy garlic flavour, will have to give it a go.

    Thanks

    • +4

      No it’s not.

    • It's never good enough for me. I cover it with garlic powder, chilli or the spice blend from Belles Chicken.

I think the wet marinated chickens in the sealed bags are the only ones with really strong flavour.

    Oleoresin seals the deal!

    • I don’t like the acetone of your voice

  • Is this the good one? I remember there being two types and one was good while the other was baddd

    • +2

Was the other one the Ingham's Chicken Portion Pieces Gourmet Roasting?

If so, personally I prefer the Woolworths one (tried both during yellow sticker markdown).

    • +4

yes, the branded Ingham's one is literally full of off-cut chunks/scraps..

Woolies one is great. Having it tonight actually.

Are these gonna be out of stock all week like the drumstick deal from last week.

    • I managed to actually get some of the last stock at a quieter Woolies on Sunday. Knew going to one in a shopping centre would be a waste of time.

      • I live in the country, I went to 3 different woolies in 3 towns a few times, they said they only got a couple of boxes and were sold out by Wednesday night, they wouldn’t be receiving anymore this special period. Bet they’ll be there this week though for $5 a kg

        • +1

Yeah regional and rural people always get shafted unfortunately. There's less deliveries because of the location but it could serve just as many people as a more urban store.

Definitely agree with the click and collect suggestion though (collect a few days after special goes off to ensure stock, or better yet talk to the local deli guys about next delivery date), even if they are sold out they should/might substitute with packaged drumsticks.

    • +1

Yeah, it happens a lot. And Woolies have stopped giving rain checks so you can get them later.

    • +6

Just order click and collect for the week after the special ends. They’ll have plenty of stock when it goes back to full price and you’ll get fresh stock since they got rid of all the old stuff during the week. If you’re struggling to get over the $30 hurdle then just order one item that’s more expensive like a drink bottle or something that’s easy to refund in store when you go to collect.

      • +1

Actually, that's kinda brilliant.. makes perfect sense.

      • Does woolies (and coles) allow change of mind returns now? I know they stopped during covid

  • +1

    🤌

  • It warms my heart to hear it's RSPCA approved

    • +2

They must be friendlier and say "please" and "thank you" to the chickens when they kill them.

      • +4

I think both the above were sarcastic, but apparently RSPCA approved basically means stick them in a shed with good lighting, stick dry shit on the floor to keep them happy and keep them healthy(ish, mainly so they don't infect others) until they're big enough to be killed and sold.

Quite a low standard ngl but marketing makes it sound better :)

        • Wasn't it true that stocking density limits were increased a few years ago and chickens are now cheaper because of this?

  • +1

Looks the same as the Coles ones (3 for $20), now expired.

    • Coles were $3.80/kg, or $2.80/kg when doing price correction at checkout (1st item free).

But this is a different flavouring.

    • But you don’t have to buy 5kg to obtain this deal, which is great

  • +4

I'm going to forget what other meats taste like with all these chicken deals lol

    • Have you ever pondered the reason for the common phrase "tastes like chicken" for all other edibles? The machines that constructed the Matrix lacked understanding of the flavour of chicken, thus they made it mimic the taste of all things.

  • Ha anybody tried cooking these in an air fryer? Our oven has been out of order for the last few weeks.

    • +6

yes..perfectly fine…i always use air fryer for this.

      • Temp and timings? Turn them?

        • 180 deg 35-45min turn half way through.

  • I hate when the nearest woolies for me is a metro one and I can't find any of these.

  • Already discounted in some stores. Just picked up two trays.

  • +2

I swear they use the older/lower quality chicken for these, the idea being that the seasoning/marinades are supposed to cover up the poor quality chicken. I always buy plain so I know exactly what I'm getting …

    • +1

Meat was good in the thighs from these today, usually these marinated ones have "that taste" in the meat but nah it was pretty good and alot better than anticipated, still doesn't exactly beat Dehli thigh but it's not far, I'ma going back for more.

      • I agree - it’s definitely not bad for the price. A good option for people who are on a budget or like to meal prep yet still very tasty and high protein.
