Adding PayPal to GPay on Android device

I went to website for instructions to add my PayPal account to my android phone using my wallet, but can't find the PayPal option ? I want to use my palpal balance so I can tap it with Gpay, if that's it is meant to be used for.

The news.com.au article shows that Paypal can only be used for online (non-tap) transactions, not instore.

Paypal's own website confirms this
