I am having another drop out here in Perth now!! I do recommend to ignore this ISP!

Since connected, been having regular drop outs almost every other week. Daily speed is super unstable and peak hour Netflix streaming will get you potato quality due to crazy pings and unstable speed.

Before moving to them i am with Tangerine. Even though people complain about Tangerine, I still get better speed and stability than this crap. Avoid at all cost!

    • Do you require customers to upload ID ?

      • Just sign up and got connected, didn’t need to upload ID, only provide drivers license details. I’m in NSW so uncertain about other states.

        • hows the speeds? My dodo $10 per month plan ends on the 17th and I need a new ISP

  • Anyone knows if there is a notice period to move out from Spintel? (E.g., Exetel needs 30 day notice)

  • Is anyone able to sign up if you were with them a year ago? I couldnt check out the application. Thanks in advance.

  • Terrible drop outs. Every time last for a few hours. Why I know that? I set up monitoring in my nas and it has dropped out since 5 am this morning. Now it’s almost 8 and still not connected back. I have to use mobile data here.

  • Can i post date it to end of month?

  • The critical information summary link (https://www.spintel.net.au/storage/files/shares/CIS/NBN_CIS_…) points to 404 not found, hope that's not a reflection of the quality of the company/service…!

  • Are BYO modem standalone NBN transfers completed same day on Sundays too?

    https://articles.spintel.net.au/en/articles/4162807-transfer…

    • I signed up yesterday arvo (sunday) and at 6am my service was active.

  • Can you combine this promo with the referral code?
I hope you can, so I have made a post in classifieds.

  • Trying to checkout and it's not letting me do it. Keeps taking me back to step 1 'new account'. Not a great start…

  • The referral links section on this post doesn't work and is showing "Error: Unable to send private message to request referral: Not enough referrers." Was wondering how can I get one if anyone knows?

    • It says there should be an option under “my account” for existing users to generate a link, unfortunately that doesn’t appear to be true.
The referral can be done up to 7 days later though.

My service was activated pretty quickly. I was on the auspost $70.20 100//40 deal; that I quit to come on this to save a few bucks… $20 a month saving for 6 mths…

FTTC, in Sydney, was consistently getting pretty much 100/40 on speed tests with telstra back on Aus post, even though everything seemed to route through Melb.

Now on Spintel, I know its only 20 up, compared to 40, but 34 down and 15 up, seriously? in the middle of the day? that's terrible. https://www.speedtest.net/result/14343286263 Is there anything I can do to make it faster? Other than power cycle the NBN NTD?

Edit: contacted Spintel - their answer was "Thank you, since the service just activated today, please allow within 24 hours for the speed to be provisioned completely on the network." :/

    • So even for folks in Sydney, they are still horrible…

    • It's been 24 hours, how are your speeds now??

      • I am getting 92/15 via ethernet direct to the NTD. But it just feels so laggy, like streaming tv, videos, takes a good few seconds to load whereas it never used to. Massively regret leaving aus post just to save 20 bucks a month for the speed cut. I don't understand why I got 100/40 speeds with aus post, and previouly superloop (FTTC), and now only getting 15 up, when I'm on a 20 plan, with Spintel, not happy.

        • Thanks

What made you go with Spintel despite all the negative comments here??

          • @Homr: In true ozbargain spirit I wanted to save $$$ lol. They won’t give me a refund. They say it’s within attainable range. Yet the tv stutters and freezes when streaming - terrible!

But, they did agree that I can be increased to 100/40 for $10 extra so that’s $59 a month…not yet came through though.

            • @dammit: That's terrible

Sometimes the bargain is not always about saving $$$, but also the service you get aswell.

I'm in Sydney, switched over from More Telecom 100/20 (69.30/month with 3 month remaining promp period). Service was activated very quick, about 20 minutes after submitting order.

Speeds on More were slightly faster (105/17) vs Spintel (93/15), ping is the same. For $20 cheaper/month I can't complain so far.

  • Any ISPs in Melb with decent tech support? My internet upload speed sinks to less than 0.01mbps on the regular, and I have to reset the connection box every time to fix that. My current provider just won't send in a technician to check/replace the box, since from their eyes they see the connection get back to normal after I reset and then they decide they don't need to do anything. I'm currently with Tangerine.

  • I see the messages from others above with almost instant activation … I submitted my order on Saturday, FTTC, still waiting for it to become active…
Status on their tracker page says "Order approved", spoke with them via Whatsapp and they said it will be "included in todays order automation" (today being Monday) … let's see.

  • A warnng for those considering this deal that their internet connection is horrible. I live in Sydney and during peak times in particular I was averaging about 15% packet loss. I would get on the online chat and they were nice and polite, would 'restart' my internet on their end and things would be good for about 24hrs and then back to the rubbish connection…

  • dont know what the fuss is all about. signed up yesterday, switched today. no issues. speed it better then superloop NBN 50

  • Was with them for a bit over a month, constant dropouts and slow speed. Had no such issue with other ISPs. The service response was very slow, especially during after hours including weekends. Even when talking to the service representatives, all they do is reading scripts over and over again, like unplug power, check setting on modem even i told them i have done so. So frustrating. Moved away from them.

Also be careful, as they don't refund prorated amount if you switch to another ISP earlier than the paid period end date! Never want to go with them again.

  • Anyone know if the offer expires today or if it's available for the whole month?

  • Just a note on referrals at the moment;
We need the following in order to send to Spintel to generate a specific link.
    Name:
    Phone:
    Email:

They did have this option before on MyAccount but since moved to a newer version their developers is still trying to find a way to add it again to make it a lot easier for customers to refer a friend. Currently i have to send these to support to get a link.

if already signed up please let the referrer know account number within 7 days and we can still use the referral.

Signed up to Superloop $73.95 after reading the comments from here. I think I made the right choice

  • Facepalm - does anyone have a screenshot of the page? I signed up just now as the page was still showing the $34.95 discount but it's literally disappeared within the last 5 minutes…

    • EDIT: No need, requested them to cancel the order…
