Mmmm just thinking back to when i got my s21 ultra for 600

    • Same but they didnot send me return mail for tradein device so paid 200 I think. Been waiting a deal like that since but no luck.

  • What's this Samsung Subscription Program? It says $1649 for S23U 512GB.

  • I am getting 1949 on my mobile now (was 1779.20 but after some surfing arohnd the site it changed) and cant preorder the 256 ultra version
But on desktop its still 1779.20 so think theres a bug somewhere and should be 1949 maybe

    • -1

Not a bug. I'm pretty sure it's intentional

    • Oh it took me to the non gov protal at sometime….

  • With Samsung Bonus Care, will I receive a brand new phone or a refurbished one if I decide to get mine swapped?

    • +1

      Refurb

    • Usually within the first month or two of release, there's a high chance that the replacement units are new. After that, refurb

  • -2

Looking for decent discounts on a new S22 Ultra now, any recommendations?

  • +16

It was a very disappointing reveal. No changes to the pen, no changes to the battery, no discernible changes to the screen. Just some camera mumbo jumbo which I'm not really optimistic about.

    P. S.: yeah I know the new chipset consumes less battery, but they say that every year and the battery is the same (if not worse) every year. It's meaningless at this point.

    • +3

Other than fold phones, everything has been minor upgrades for some time now.

      • But Chinese brands are crushing it every year. It's a shame they don't have any customer service in AU.

        • Which equivalent Chinese phone would you recommend?

        • +1

Chinese phones are good but horrible resell value.

If you buy a chinese phone, then plan to use it and get horrible resell price, and people will definitely haggle you to death.

          • @lplau: Can confirm. It's tough reselling them. Specially lesser know brands.

          • @lplau: I also thought Chinese phones don't support android auto for some weird reason. Something to keep in mind.

          • @lplau: I agree with this, but if you're spending less to start with for a similar featured phone, and if it goes the distance of a few years, you're probably not that much out of pocket anyway.

  • Not much different from s22 ultra?

    • Contemplating if I should upgrade from s22 Ultra. It will cost about $500 to upgrade after selling it privately and using all bonuses.

      • +2

        Don't

      • how are your battery usage? heat? if fine then dont?

      • You get almost 1000$ trade in value with Samsung and 1200$ trade in value with jbhifi.

I saw the 23 ultra in person, and I'm satisfied with the flatter edge of the phone. It's bothered me since the note 9, then note 20 augh.

Some other little upgrades make it worthwhile.

Go and see in person though

        • Its getting delivered tomorrow, bit the bullet!

    • It seems identical apart from the camera improvements and the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.

    • nothing really. new CPU (w/e who cares) and some slight camera improvements (questionable). I'm sticking to my S22U for now

  • Anyone having issues with trade-id showing error "Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment"?

I've put my S9+ through the trade-up app and got the code, but throwing up an error when I go to enter it during the purchase process.

    • I have the same problem although I keep getting a "Authorization failed. Please check that you have sufficient funds in your account and try again." message

      • Same issue here with me.

Authorization failed. Please check that you have sufficient funds in your account and try again.

      • +3

I got around this by adding the phone to the cart and then adding the trade in code when you are in the shopping cart page.

        • This.
And also you can't choose the in-store option for return. Has to be online.

        • Thanks for the workaround - This worked for me

          • @jdg: I don't see a tradein section on the checkout page. Is it after you enter payment info?

        • absolute lifesaver, thanks!

  • +1

Seems ALL the bonus offers and tradfe in bonuses are pretty lame this year. Last year you could get $700 extra with some places. $200 at the edu (and it seems almost the same elsewhere) is pathetic given the value they put on the trade in handsets

    PASS

    • +4

It's the same offers as last year, the only diff is they had an error on their website last year and the accessories voucher was working even after removing the items.

      • Edu and Samsung might be about the same but with the telcos its not. Last year i got a S22 ultra 512gb and with trade in and bonus for the S21 it only cost me just about $700 over 2 years (vodafone)

I got a fold 4 512gb in Sep with trade in for an S22 at $1000 over 12 months (vodafone)

If i wanted to do that now i would get nowhere near the trade in amount, even on better phones to be traded in

Ill wait until a price drop and sell the one i was going to trade in this morning. :-(

        • -3

Didnt realise this was a telcos offer page?

          • @abs898: Is this Whirlpool?

The edu offer is rubbish, I just worked out that for an S23U its only $60 more on the main site after taking the extra $100 and memory upgrade into acct and then you also get the $250 so you are almost $200 worse off going down the Edu store route if you trade in

            Is that better?

            • +4

@Motek Benzona: Any dollar saved is a deal. So if you are saving $60 here it's still a deal my friend.

            • +1

@Motek Benzona: Plus if someone wants a 256gb, doesn't qualify for upgrade memory in the main site so no deal there.

  • Yeah, all the bonus offers hardly offset the price increase this year.

  • Anyone able to generate the $50 sign up vouchers? Do they work with the pre order?

    • Its not working for the preorder

    • They might fix it. Hard to say. I know last year it initially didn't work, but 1-2days later they fixed it.

    • I can't seem to get the offer to show up.

I've never been able to receive the email, although I remember there was someone on here that was able to generate an unlimited number of them

    • Call them. I got it after 2 days

  • Does shop back 8% work for this purchase today on Samsung? Or via westpac Samsung? Says its a 1 day extra bonus ending midnight. Extra 8% is a good saving.

    • +1

My last few Samsung CB via SB got rejected, don't bank on it to justify the purchase.

      • +1

Cashback is ineligible for edu store, business store and other partner portal

    • Shopback rejected my claim last time even though I have video recorded the purchase. Treat cashback as a lottery rather than a real discount/saving.

  • Is Samsung Care a lie? Instead of trading in your phone each year and pay $1000+, isn't it better to get Samsung Care which allows you to swap your phone 2 times in two years for up to $299? I'm I missing something?

    • +1

Wont always be new. It can also be refurb.

It is good if you want a new phone feeling but for people who chase newer phones and get the newest version every year then it is useless.

      • -1

I don't always get the new phone. Currently have Samsung A70 that I got in 2019. Can't I ask for a swap when the s24 ultra comes out? I don't think they will have refurbished unit that quickly.

        • +1

That's not his it works. You get the same phone you had

          • @mbck: So that's the catch. Not worth it then.

            • +1

@Misogi Kumagawa: Well it's there so if you damage your phone and you can't use it, you can get another phone, instead of buying full price.

If you break your phone often, then it is an amazing deal.

          • @mbck: Pretty sure there's option to upgrade or refresh for different fee. Upgrade being higher

            • @sagrgar: That's Samsung subscription. Different thing, different use.

              • @mbck: Can you explain Samsung subscription to me? Looks like it's cheaper using Samsung subscription because they've got $300 off bringing price to $1649 for 512GB + the Samsung care+ is included although trade-in isn't allowed. And evoucher is provided separately after the delivery of phone.

        • You'd get a refurbed s23

    • I have stopped using a case since care was introduced

      • +4

$150 to replace phone vs $30 for a case to prevent it from damage.

    • I swapped my N20U once. Got what looked to be a brand new phone. YMMV.

I did it near the end of the 2 year period so that I can pass on a new phone to the missus to use with a new battery.

    • They will give you the same phone you have

    • You don't get S24 in place of S23 though, you'll still get an S23 no matter how many times you claim it.

  • +5

Total price for S23U 256GB with 20% discount with 'bonuscare' and trade-in of cracked S9+ ($1)
    $1559.20 - $201 = $1358.20

Got the buds2pro with the $250 instant evoucher
    $279.20-$250 = $29.20

    Total paid: $1387.40

Just to give an idea of what kind of figures might look like.

    • Is that a trade in bonus of $200?

      • yes

    • so your cracked s9+ is worth $1 on the trade in app, you still get $200 bonus?

i have a old samsung S7 lying around

      • +1

Can you please let me know if this actually works? I've got an old S7 Edge sitting at my parents house, and this might motivate me to finally go pick it up.

        • +2

hey mate, yep I used my spare Samsung s7 that was sitting in a cupboard full of dust, downloaded the Samsung trade up app, went through diagnostics and got $5 trade in value.

Use the trade in code to purchase s23 ultra 256gb model(which gave me $200 bonus + $5 trade) and use BONUSCARE coupon.

Phone ended up being $1229.70 (they added the 50% free cost of Samsung care into that number)
also got use the e voucher for a watch 5 pro which ended up being $248.31

          happy dayz

        • +1

Hey! I also have an S7 Edge lying around thinking I could use it for trading in, but apparently if you try looking for it on (https://www.samsung.com/au/tradeup/), the S7 Edge isn't in the list?
If you've managed to get a trade-in code from the app, could you let me know? Thanks

  • Anyone else who stocked up on the 15% off ultimate gift cards planning to buy at JB instead? Seems to be cheaper ordering at Samsung as well as the evouchers.

    • Cheaper at JB only if you dont want Samsung care.

      • Is it?

        S23 Ultra 1tb

        Samsung: $2119 + evoucher of $250
        Jb: $2249 (https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-galaxy-s23-ultra-…)

        • You can also do the trade in thing to get $200 off even if you don't trade in. Then free $250 care on it

          • @abs898: Need to take into consideration the $60 admin fee if you dont send in the trade in.

      • +1

        My numbers are:
        S23 Ultra 512GB

        JB - $1,949 - $250 JB Gift Card - $300 trade in credit* = $1,399
Presume you can save about $75 by buying giftcards at about 5% discount = $1,324.

        Corporate/EDU Site:
$1,799 -$250 instant giftcard you must use immediately - $200 trade in*. = $1,349….. + free Samsung Care.

Assuming you value Samsung Care at greater than $25, then the Edu/Corp store sounds better to me still … IF you can make decent use of the $250 samsung instant giftcard (eg, want Buds Pro 2, or a couple of new chargers and a case or a tablet or a watch, etc) - unless there are any decent cashback offers for JB Hifi that I've missed??

FWIW, I horribly pay $53 or so Optus for a SIM Only plan (don't ask), so I'm planning on signing up to JBs $700 giftcard with Telstra $69/24month deal… so, for me, for example, I would not be able to save the full $75 by buying giftcards…… but, also, I'd be "stuck" with a $700 JB HiFi Gift card and no clear use-case for it in the near future. Therefore, I'll be tempted to pre-order from JB, despite it being more expensive (if you ascribe any value to SamsungCare), as I should be able to use my $700 Telstraplan voucher immediately.

*JB Hifi seemingly wont give me a $300 voucher as my phone is worth $0 as it is a cracked S10. So I can only pre-order from JB if I can find another device to trade in. Samsung are happy to pay me $1 and the $200 bonus voucher for my cracked S10.

        • That's the thing right, you dont have to return phone to Samsung as long as you pay the $60 admin fees.

          • @abs898: I heard your IMEI gets blacklisted though

        • I get $800 from my trade in of my s22 ultra 256gb via jb. Then an additional $300 plus the $250 e gift card.

So with the bonus memory upgrade.
          Its $1949
          -$800
          -$300
          -250
          =$599

If im correct? And reading the jb hifi terms correctly?

          • @Agechamp: That checks out with me - just be aware that I think the $250 giftcard will come after you complete the transaction, so you won't be able to use it to pay and you'll need to find another use for it.

If you do the trade-in ahead of time, I understand that you can get the $800+$300 trade-in voucher and use that to purchase the phone.

        • Wait, where is this bonus $300 voucher coming from on TOP of your trade in value?

          I have a Note 20 ultra 5g with $400 trade in-value.
          You're saying there is more?

  • How can I get that price in the Education shop as There are no family members who are students or work in the education industry?! That is really annoying ……

    • Also the same in the gov portal. So any family members in the gov sector?

    • Same price for Corporate store and Government store -> I think the Corporate store is purchase limit of 5 per employee per year - so if you know anyone at Qantas, Big 4 Banks, a large insurer, a Big 4 accounting firm, etc, etc, etc, should still be accessible (albeit, need to call in a favour). Its only about $50 cheaper on these portals than the public Samsung website, if you say you are trading in a phone though.

  • Can you use an IMEI number not eligible for trade in? If yes does that still trigger trade in bonus? I know peeps are saying $60 admin fee no return fee I was charged that last year as I sold my phone elsewhere for more. As I read a couple months back someone on WP was saying Asurion admin fee is now $150?

    • It's still $60.
