Yet another variation on the Boost deals.
The $30 a month sim is $10 currently (and get $10 from Cashrewards) EXPIRED. Get 45GB on the first 3 recharges.

It includes 5G, but from April 4th speed is capped at 150Mbps (the $50 plan has 250Mbps, $70 uncapped).

I managed to get 3 before they cut me off.

Data offer valid for new customers only who activate by 3 April 2023 and third recharge by 29 May 2023.

  • Does this $30 a month plan have 5G network? I read somewhere it was a trial or does anyone know if it's permanent now?

    • +1

It has 5G currently, but I thought that was a trial that ends soon, however I can't find any mention of it on their site.

      There's a 150Mbps cap on speed.

Yes, data on this plan rolls over

      • +3

Gonna slightly correct you here: there’s no cap on speed atm, but from 4 April, the $30 plan will have a capped speed of 150Mps

        • +1

          Yes, missed that.

There's also conditions on when you have to activate by to get the cashback (30 days from purchase), and to get the bonus data.

Boost SIMs work fine in my G82 5G

  • +3

Anyone experiencing issues activating sim from previous deals? Seems to work with 1 sim and tried another keeps getting error. Expiry 2024 may. Hmm

    • +1

Online chat could do the job.

    • More often than not I cant activate Telstra or Boost sims online, I've tried on multiple devices, PC's and phone, I end up with "Something went wrong" errors… I always have to waste 30 mins using the online chat to activate….

The chat reps claim it's not an issue on their end and they claim they use the same system to do the activations so the issue must be my end, they just suggest clearing browser history…. I'm not sure I've tried Edge browser so I might try that next time…

    • You need to log into your Boost account first, then do the activation.

All real ozbargainer know to wait a little bit longer.
    No profit no deal. 🫣

    • +1

Same. Waiting for an updated deal with profit

  • +1

I bought 1 and got $5.50 back then bought the other 2 only got back $5.50. probably best to buy 1 at a time to get $16.50 back

    • You should be getting $10 cashback. You have to buy them one at a time and refresh the cashrewards link each time.

      • I got back $11, as I said previously probably best to buy 1 at a time to potentially get back $16.50 Cashback

        Can't try because I've already bought 3

        • +1

Your picture shows records by Shopback, not Cashrewards.

          • @Neoika: My bad, shop back seems like the better deal.

  • does this mean 1 month free? as in pay $10 and get $10 from cashback?

    • +2

      Yes

      • cool, thx!

        • +1

does this mean 1 month free?

          No, it's 28 days free.

  • -1

    28 days = paying for 13 months

    • Not if it's free (or better) every month - so far since October running 4 mobile phones for myself, husband and two kids has left me with a profit - 28 day plans or not…

      • Free for one month? how does it not cost you? claiming it on tax?

        • You pay $10 for the Sim card and cash rewards gives you $10 back…

          • @amberflamber: Each month you're buying a new simcard? that's the part that was unclear to me.

            • +3

@Tollery: I am what ozbargainers call a "Sim sl&t" - each month I move carriers to avail of the best offers and every second month so far that has included either a free boost sim, or even better, a boost sim that you make a profit on when cash rewards give you more than you paid…it takes about 15 minutes to port the numbers to new providers each month, in the current financial climate, well worth it in my mind.

              • @amberflamber: Interested to know how you do this since I want to keep the same number. Do you port out a boost sim number to another carrier with a promo? If so, which one? and how do you do this without spending too much? I assume you will be buying a new sim from a different carrier every 25-28 days to take advantage of Boost cashback
After porting out, how long do you wait to port in the same number to another boost sim?

                • @Brakus: I port our 4 numbers out and I make sure to use 27 of the 28 days at a new provider before porting back to boost. I just get whatever the best monthly deal is at the time. Averaging out spending money for a non free Sim (like amaysim or Kogan) with the boost extra cashback deals I am currently $4 in front since October. I use the money I get back from cashback to fund future Sim purchases. If you want a free month and can use Vodafone a company called Felix is giving the first month for free at the moment too.

                  • @amberflamber: thank you for the detailed info. Sorry, I just want to be sure. Do you need to port out the number for 24 hours before you can port back in? What is the minimum amount of time?

              • @amberflamber: HAHA love the nick name!

This is what I thought you was doing each mouth.

  • Can multiple be purchased & use the second one for recharging for 2nd month? If yes how & how many times can you do this ?

    • Yes. I bought 3 yesterday. Make sure to refresh the Cashrewards link and only buy one at a time. I have another carrier as my main phone number and just use the first month of these for the data as a second sim in my phone.

You should be able to use these as your main number as long as you transfer your number each time you activate the sim (you get the option to transfer your number or get a new one). Though I’d like to hear from someone that’s actually doing that just to confirm it.

      • Thank you.

  • For new customers only
meaning as a current boost mobile customer, I have to port the number to another carrier and back and then have to do that every month if I buy multiple of these?

    • That’s what I wondered a while ago, asked on here, but it was never answered. I’ve been able to activate multiple sims bought with the same name and address. I use the first months data, then activate another. I get e fresh mobile number each time though as I’m not using the phone part, just the data.

      • Ahh. If it's having to swap the number every month that's a bit too annoying for me.
        I'm clearly not a true ozbarginer 😆

        • You might be able to port sim to sim, but I’ve not done it. Maybe someone else will confirm it.

I use a Woolies annual sim for my main number. Good deal as you get 10% off a shop once a month. I use these Boost deals as a send sim just for the data, which sometimes is my main internet at home.

  • +2

Boost are great and cheap when everything works well, but if you have issues they have some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced.

My SIM order was “returned to sender” for unknown reasons and the online chat agent refused to resend it. I’m now bouncing between the complaints team and customer service as they both just try to pass you off to each other and refuse to take any ownership of the issue. I’ve already escalated to the TIO but they’ve said Boost have 14 days to resolve it themselves before the case goes any further.

    • Keep us updated on how you go.

      • +2

After escalating to the TIO, Boost still weren’t able to re-send the SIM and offered a refund. They refunded the full RRP (not the discounted online price paid) so I was able to buy a replacement from Officeworks.

Close to two months after ordering the service is finally activated and working fine.

        • Thanks for the update. Okay well at least they refunded you full RRP in order to buy a sim from another carrier.

  • +1

It has been 12 hours since I ordered and yet to be tracked. Usually its quite good at tracking

  • can i use the same email to buy mutiple SIMs?

  • +1

Sorry guys. So after 3 months how much data do we get?

    • +2

20gb it’s in the critical information summary.

  • Anyone have any idea the latest the sims can be activated?

This could be a perfect solution for o/s family visiting towards the end of March.

edit: Disregard, looks like it needs to be activated by 3rd April 2023.
