Post Your RGB Keyboard Layout!

I was lucky enough to snag a Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro from JB on this deal at the end of last year, and I have been trying to figure out the best looking RGB setup since the keys are individually controllable.

I was curious, for others that have similar RGB keyboards (whether individually lit, zones or only a static/unchangeable layout), what do you choose to use?

If you have, please post a picture to both show off your setup, and maybe give others some inspiration!

This is what I've decided on for now: Photo - basically lighting up each key group with a different colour.

I don't like backlit keyboards (mine doesnt have a backlight and I couldn't care less)

It's not worth paying extra for RGB on a keyboard

If the keyboard comes with RGB, I just prefer to set a single colour

I like to change the colour of my keyboard fairly regularly

It's cool to have, I'd choose RGB over non RGB

  • I used to like RGB - but the LED's inevitably sh1t the bed and you lose the blue or something.

So now I just buy keyboards without RGB at all - currently using a QK65

    • Your right about the blue. I'm typing on a keyboard that has switched over to purple lighting and a third of the keys are red (red + blue = purple).

    NO.

good thing you colour coded your keyboard. i wouldn't know what buttons are what!

    • I just thought it looked cool too

    Chat.

Backlit keyboard with all white LEDs on breathe setting if you must. Otherwise this is peak keyboard aesthetic.

Candy raver tech aesthetic needs to stay in the '10s.

The bone, the beige, the off white
      .

  • I use an old Mac wired keyboard with numpad, even on my PC. Have a backup for when it finally dies. Been 10 years at least. No RGB here…

I don't turn the leds on on my keyboards.

This is the first RGB keyboard ive ever had and it's new to me so I was pretty excited to be able to customise it… Seems like absolutely no one gives a single f*** haha, which is fine, but surprising for me. Anyway … :)

I find the RGB on keyboards to be distracting because of how dim my set up is in my studio unit.
That said, for Razer keyboards you can do interesting things with Razer Chroma.

I played Cyberpunk 2077 with Razer Chroma integration, it changes the colour of the RGB on the keyboard depending on what's going on in the game.
I did find that really cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXFMxBvn_Hw

Otherwise, I have a hall effect keyboard (Wooting 2) which registers how far your pressed the key. It has an RGB profile that lights up more keys around the key you pressed depending on how far you pressed the key (like a ripple effect that changes how far the ripple is depending on how far you pressed the key). It was cool, but probably serves no purpose outside of being really cool.

      • Oh, wow I never knew there was game integration capability. Will keep that in my mind!

        Thanks Joe

I'll tell the courier to leave it on the porch if nobody is home.

    • sure its not 1060 W Addison St, …. ?

  • I generally have it turned off. Though, I quite frequently tap the RGB button by accident on my current Keyboard - Keychron K6v2.

I did play around with it a fair bit on my Anne Pro v2 and even got pudding keycaps.

Room is quite dark. Generally very happy with the keys for typing on this Redragon keyboard (especially for this price for a keyboard without the numpad) but it's very annoying that the lights turn off after only a couple of seconds… so I basically have to wake it up (usually by tapping control) if I'm not touch typing. For a backlit keyboard with mechanical keys, it was about the same price as similar keyboard without RGB, so basically the RGB was a bonus. I need the backlight but would have been happy with a single colour… but since I have the RGB anyway, I like the colour coded keys. It's actually functional, not just cosmetic.

That's cool, but annoying it's not a constantly on backlight. Thanks for sharing among the sea of keyboard connoisseurs who are too cool for RGB!

      • who are too cool for RGB!

        I prefer CMYK.

        • yes but those black LEDs are super expensive

    • some of your numeric keys are missing.

I wanted a keyboard without the numpad because it saves desk space and means I don't have to reach as far to the mouse. Much better for FPS games because my arms are in a more natural position.

Keyboards like this tend to be more expensive, presumably due to lack of economies of scale, or maybe just because they are sold as a premium item.

    I have a static rainbow. It's beast.

I fiddled with my hyperx keyboard but eventually settled on a red glow, low intensity. The next day it reset itself to it's standard rainbow breathing pattern so just left it as that. First RGB keyboard, first mechanical one too, definitely think it's pretty rad. Floating island design = not so rad with 2 cats who love to sleep on it = filthy in days.

aah, a thread for people with a keyboard fetish! haha

(Plain keyboard is fine with me. I don't normally touch it outside of work hours, except for when I need to comment on OzB).

  • For some reason the DILLIGAF option in the poll isn't showing up for me.

  • My keyboard does have RGB lighting which I can customise, but a) I don't use it as RGB looks kinda tacky/boring and b) my aftermarket keycaps aren't shine-through

  • Warning- snarky answer coming up:

Not sure why people like LED keyboards, as I find a light source under the screen to be distracting. And LEDs mandate Cherry MX/clone switches which is a bit limiting too.

We have backlit keyboards at my place, but they are used by my kids who are in primary school.

  • I just have a Kogan RGB keyboard from an OZB deal several years ago now. Still going strong. I have it on the dimmest setting, and the mode is a rainbow gradient that just continually scrolls from right to left. Backlit keyboards are a must have for me, but I'm not too fussed on the actual colour. I mainly have it set to rainbow because it matches the rainbow RGB on my mobo that I set once and will probably never bother changing ever again.
RGB is fine for work and general PC use, but I tend to disable it for gaming, as I just find it distracting.

  • Corsair RGB keyboard, it waves in two RGB colors, I like it, but I don't really noticed the RGB most of the time, I kinda tune it out.
