Less then RRP, slightly less than the price before the increase and no forced bundling. Ok, fine, I’ll up vote.

    • +1

I forgot the price increased. Damn

  • On what AMEX cards do people get these deals? I'm considering getting one.

    • +4

It's targeted, but I got it on my Amex Explorer. Check your app, in the 'Offers' tab.

    • +1

      I have it on Essentials

    • This is not as ‘targeted’ as some other offers. And since I’ve got it on 3 of my Amexs – Plat Edge, Gold and Qantas Ultimate, I’m gonna go on a limb and say that everyone who has an amex has got it.

  • +6

Good price. I got the offer, but I don’t need another PS5.

    • my bro bought ps5 to play fifa with friends , now i jus see it sitting on the table as an ornament

    • +8

When it's confirmed, feel free to say it.

      Till it has, don't.

    • Rumours also saying that PS5 Pro will come out later this year, don't believe everything you read though.

    • +14

But i can buy 2nd hand games on the cheap

    • +16

I do hope you are just trolling. If you still dont understand the issues with a digital only ecosystem there is no hope for you

        • +19

So glad that you're sharing your well informed opinion based on a long and consistent history of console ownership.

        • +11

How do you spot a PC gamer? Don’t worry they’ll tell you.

    • +3

      Welcome to 2023!
Where people enjoy getting price gouged on Sony PS online game store, not being able to lend friends games or trade them in, where developers pay large fees to Sony to "electronically distribute" their games.

It's not good for consumers or developers.

      • Similar model to Xbox?

    • +4

Wow this guy does not ozbargain?!

Tell me you way way over pay for your games, without telling me you way way over pay for your games

  • -8

already gone one but maybe I should get a 2nd.

    • but maybe I should get a 2nd.

Maybe you should save you money?

        • +8

maybe you should mind your own business?

Posts on a public forum and gets butthurt when someone responds 🤡

          • +1

@PainToad: Your interest in butts is not a concern with me if you like butts then thats your business. But simply put in terms you can understand, telling someone to 'save your money' on a site that encoarages spending. LOL I think someone is a little jealous.

      • -1

@PainToad mate you're always getting owned.

        • +3

          always getting owned

Nah, slavery is illegal now. No one owns me.

  • +3

This section of the terms could be clearer as it sounds like it excludes the store.Sony.com.au

"Excludes transactions where you do not spend directly with your Card to which the offer is saved, in-store at participating SONY stores or online at store.sony.com.au. Offer valid at Australian locations and website only"

    • Amex c.s. recommended that the deal be used at the listed Sydney stores only and could not confirm whether it will work on the store.sony.com.au website.

    • +1

This section of the terms could be clearer as it sounds like it excludes the store.Sony.com.au

No, you're not reading that sentence contextually, and you're also ignoring the first part of the T&Cs:

      "DETAILS
Save the offer to your eligible Card and spend $500 or more, in one or more transactions, online or in-store at participating SONY stores by 19/03/2023 to receive one $100 credit. Limited to the first 30,000 Cards to save the offer. Exclusions apply."

The point you are quoting is simply saying that if you pay for it, in a Sony store on at store.Sony.com.au, then it must be done with the card that you have saved this deal to, and not via PayPal for example or if you are really brain dead, then with another Amex card you didn't save the deal to.

      • Yes - I believe that is what the terms were aiming to say, despite making it more confusing in the process.

Even the amex rep was unsure what the terms meant.

I used the code and believe it will work fwiw

        • Code?

        • Wait a minute… what are you saying about code? You don’t need code.

  • …its happening!

    • What's happening?

      • -1

        it's starting to come down

        • It's not? The price went up $50 recently and this deal isn't PS5 exclusive, its $100 off any item from the Sony store when you spend over $500.

          • @hobo123: yeah….the RRP went up by $50, which means it has a new RRP.

In current day, this deal posted by the OP is a good deal and a good sign that prices are going to start coming down

            • @whitepuma: I can see what Hobo123 is saying, it's not exactly a ps5 sale even though you can get it cheaper than rrp.

              • @softwhite: but in current day it is a sale

sure, if we were to rewind to PS5 launch day, in the hypothetical scenario that stock was available, then sure, i get what Hobo123 is saying…..but that's not the situation we are in.

I bet if we wait another 3 years this deal will be considered a crappy deal….but that's after waiting another 3 years and not basing it off of todays value.

                • @whitepuma: @whitepuma 699 is less than launch day price but the point is that the price of the ps5 hasn't really 'started' to drop, because this is an outlier of a scenario with this cashback.

                  • @softwhite: yes….and i'm saying you can't compare to launch day price because this isn't launch day prices….all you can do is compare to today.
gold hit 1200usd/oz in 2018….but today it's passed 1900. so if somebody today is selling gold at 1800usd/oz, are you going to tell them that's not a good deal because it was 1200 5 years ago? or are you going to jump on the deal because currently it's valued at over 1900.

                    • +1

@whitepuma: @whitepuma yes and my point is that it's lower than current $800 AND launch price $750 - so regardless of which price point you pick it's still a good deal.

  • Sony store doesn't price match else you could price match then use this AMEX deal

    • What you mean they dont price match? Sony always price matches…

      • Try matching Big W eBay price offers. I doubt they will especially with eBay plus subscription

        • +5

Nobody matches ebay.. but I'd be confident they would match amazon or any shop retailer

        • I've successfully priced matched with an online store (that did not require a coupon or voucher) via online chat, not sure if ymmv or not. I've not heard of a retailer that price matches code discounts, let alone consistently so.

  • don't forget 8% cashrewards.

but still not a good time to purchase.

Prefer to wait for a lower price and do the price match via Sony, plus cashrewards, plus amex, price may be under $500

    • +3

I thought all Playstation products were excluded from cashback?

      • +2

        You are correct.

      • My goodness.

    • +1

"Cashback is ineligible on PlayStation products & accessories, including any purchases from the PlayStation store."

  • -4

here is what I've been told by sales support team via chat:

Well no worries, and upon checking here. This was an international version/direct import of PS5.

So we cannot guarantee Sony Australia's manufacturer's warranty.

    • If it's sold on the store.sony.com.au website it will be under ACL regardless of what stock it is.

  • +1

A good offer. It is a shame that I have become a lazy filthy casual gamer and use cheats engines in single player games. Thus, consoles are no longer a thing for me. Best cheat is the ability to teleport across the map. I can't imagine playing assassin valhalla without it.

    • +2

If you barely play at all that makes sense. Although a PC is more expensive so each to their own

  • DM me if you want to use this offer, I won't be using it.

  • Not a bad price I managed after selling GoW Ragnarok game from Big W eBay plus deal @ $732.68. Got the unit earlier and no need to wait for cashback.

  • I got this offer but won't be using it, so I guess I can help fellow OzB who may need it :)

  • I won't be using this deal for myself either. Can help a fellow OzBargainer out

  • +1

It's a little bit more expensive, but JB has the bundle for $819 next week.

    • What bundle?

      • +1

Same bundle as the one listed in OP.

        • The GOW bundle? How so?

    • Too little too late for JB to try to catch up

  • -2

so its a 5 Disc console right? :-p

  • You can actually pre order the PSVR2 to get $100 off i believe

  • -4

It's so hard to decide buying that thing, with pcsx2 and the hd dumps it's never been the best time, some of the ai upscales look like gawd dam amazing especially in resident evil outbreak file 1 and 2.

(I'm still shocked what the old Xbox one can do, and it's a piece of shawizzle yet capable)

Hopefully Sony get their shit together and open the option of backwards compatibility on the ps5 pro.

I wanna see mario kart running on ps5 pro.

  • Should I buy now or wait for a less ugly version to be released? I'll probably play one game on it that I can think of….

    • Less ugly will cost you $1k+

  • Just a reminder for those without an Amex card that the PS5 is $763 on Amazon right now.

    • Does that mean we could pricematch and then use the Amex offer on top?

      • +2

Don't see why not, although it may be at their discretion if the item is sold via Amazon AU or a third party seller. I've certainly had price matches for items from less reputable stores.

        • tried it .. computer said no - they will only match the GOW bundle

  • -1

Geez, got mine for $699 two years ago when it was preorder on Amazon for $749 and get $50 off by paying with zip pay…😅

  • Tried to cancel and refund the GOW Bundle as it's not a physical disc game and they refused.

Anyone know how to circumvent this?

  • +1

Could likely price match the current JB-Hifi offer on the God of War Ragnarok Bundle for $819, bringing it down to $719.

    • +2

Yep, can confirm this works, did it yesterday.

  • Anyone successful managed to price match the Sony offer at JB to get it at $719?

  • GOWR bundle is now $834.95 on Sony

  • So it a no then, now have to wait for Catch to drop the prices further

  • Has anyone got their cashback yet?

  • +2

In case this helps anyone, Sony just priced matched Costco for the PS5 disk edition. I got it for $779 and used my Amex Sony offer too, so I got down to $679 all up… The confirmation email from Amex came through. Fingers crossed they honour it otherwise they’re going to receive some very stern words from me! 😆

    • +1

      Cashback came through from Amex
