Choosing a Secondary Monitor - Tech Specs Help

Hi there,
So i just bought this monitor (Lenovo L32p-30 4K UHD Monitor) from JB hifi and am planning a second monitor (was going to use philips 32" but way too big)
The lenovo is 4k, does that mean my second monitor should also be 4k to maintain the resolution, text size etc? or can it just be QHD?
Also, from peoples preference, I am planning to use it as a vertical - 24" or 27?

Thanks in advance.

Not all monitors have to be the same resolution. You can have a 4K and 1440p one if desired but do check your computer/GPU is capable of outputting to multiple monitors (e.g. some laptops may not).

Size is subjective, 27" is too small for me, it's fine for others. Only you can decide that. Just make sure it can swivel to full vertical.

It depends on how much space you have and whether you want to be able to put stuff underneath the monitor. Sometimes it might be better to have one large monitor.

I've got a Samsung CHG90 and it works beautifully.

    • Nice! But Clayton and Natali from Redacted have an even bigger one.

Best to get two the same, you'll thank me later.

  • All depends on your usage needs.

I was originally running a pair of 24" 1080p IPS monitors, which were great, but then having upgraded to a 34" ultrawide I used one of the 24"s for the kid's PC.

If you do spreadsheets/programming then it makes sense to have the second monitor vertical, but since I use mine mostly for reading and Youtube it stays normal. No need to have the pair match unless you really need to.
