Max weight loading of 180kg makes it sound pretty shady. I assume that's static, so they can put out the biggest number possible.

The corresponding Gym Direct one is certified to 800kg, which they give a safety rating of 500kg. For not much more money.

    • You mean this one:
      https://gymdirect.com.au/products/half-rack-sale

$480 plus delivery. vs $265.85 plus delivery. It is not "not much more money". I would seriousely consider the gym direct one, if it's less than $350 ("not much more money").

Two hundred bucks to not have something collapse on you when you drop a (very attainable by even the most shut-in ozbargainer) two plate bench on it? Seems very much like ‘not much money’.

        • 180kg limit for a piece of equipment thats meant for heavy weights. Yeah, nah. Dont plateue yourself!

          even the most shut-in ozbargainer

          I am feeling personally attacked.

  • Apologize for off topic question: what's the name of the lower/longer/stronger thingy that sticks out to hold the weight of the bar bell (as opposed to the higher and shorter thingy that also holds the bar bell)?

I'd like to buy a pair of that long ones for my current setup.

safety bars? not sure if there's a more technical term

looks like they might be also called 'safety spotters'

I think I bought this in 2021. I don't put more than 4x20kg plates so haven't stress tested this, but it feels sturdy enough. My package had one piece that had a hole which wasn't drilled properly. Had to get a replacement for that piece which came through fine. The arms and J hooks will rub against the frame and cause the paint to scrape off. There's a lot of friction at those points. For the price, I got it during 2021 lockdowns and haven't regretted it.

    • Also, the barbell will rub against the J hooks and rub the paint off at the point of contact too.

If you buy it from activego which is their ebay outlet (direct), you’ll get free postage.

$288 with coupons applied right now, but no shipping comes out cheaper
