my family is having a little competition this year of who can collect the most free hats. and was just looking for sites/stores etc that are giving them away.

Haha I like the idea. If it were me what I would do is I would call all the companies that print promotional hats in my area, explain the story and try and have a bit of a laugh with them to butter them up then ask if they have any spare deadstock that I could come pick up. Show up to the next family gathering and absolutely curb stomp the competition.

so if a place had free hats destined to be given to 1 patron each, you would go and take them all for fun?.
no only unique hats count, had that discussion and the rules were if you you get 50 hats that are identical then it only counts as one, no point ruining other people fun
