XFX AMD Radeon HD6870

I wasn't sure about putting this in selling or swapping, but I was just inquiring as to what OzBargainers think I should sell my 6870 Graphics Card for.
I recently impulse bought it from CentreCom, but found that it didn't fit inside my case properly (I hope that was the problem, anyway), and so I'm now thinking about selling it, instead of dealing with the hassle of finding a case that it will fit into properly (the edge of it wouldn't fit in the space between the MB and case, meaning that the front wouldn't fit into the PCI slot, and my DVI ports wouldn't work at all).
So, what do you think? Outdated XFX 6870, originally bought for $200 3 months ago. Anyone interested? Or any suggestions for fixing my dilemma?

Edit: Exact specs, and original purchase price here, for anyone interested: http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/687a-zdfc-radeon-6870-p-…

  • Throw it up on ebay, it is still a decent card

  • I might be interested. Name your price? My offer is $150 + ship

You mind taking a picture of the issue? It sounds as though it's your motherboard that's actually mis-aligned and wasn't installed properly, that might be what's causing the problem.

    • Yeah, seconded. If you're unsure, get someone who has more experience to help you install the card.

      • That should be an easy task…. For most. I vaguely remember a Wp user breaking out a pair of tin snips and completely mangling the back of his case with it because the Gpu didn't fit properly.

        Goldboy, you are a champ:

        • $150 is good price IMO

      • I've tried numerous times to install it myself (I consider myself somewhat experienced, too) as has someone else - the front end of the card refuses to move.
I'll have to investigate the MB - I didn't install it myself, as it was a CentreCom build from about 4 years back.

    • Take the $150 I reckon, or if not put it on ebay

    • If I do end up deciding to sell it, I'll give you a PM. $150 sounds acceptable, and shipping shouldn't be a problem, since apparently you're right behind me. I've only used it for a maximum of half an hour all up, and I'm 98% confident that nothing has been damaged, so its in pretty good condition.

Before I do end up deciding on selling, though, I will investigate my motherboard and take photos in the process. I have tried it in another PC with the same case, and the problem persisted (different MB, though), so I'm not really quite sure what to make of it. I was fairly certain its the case's fault (its a shitty Intec one from CentreCom, their default a couple of years ago), but, as I said, I'll have to investigate.

I regret buying this now, as I've now realised that my CPU is incredibly shit and effectively bottlenecks gaming performance (so a better GPU than my current 5770 is really unneeded).
      Thanks for the reply :)

      • I'm actually in Sydney :O

  • Bump. I'm definitely selling now. Anyone interested? If a mod could move this to selling and swapping, I would appreciate it.
