New Car on Display but Where's Mine

Ordered a new car back in June last year. Was told December then June this year. That's OK not in a hurry

But I've been driving past the dealer for the last 2 weeks and there's a brand newie my colour. Sitting up on the display ramps not going anywhere waiting for some hail damage.
I don't get dealers they have 10 or 20 new cars on their lot no one wants sitting there. Then you have everyone waiting forever to get the car they want.

Maybe not your spec? Go and look perhaps

      Another time waster

      Why are you asking us?????

Do you expect someone here to wave a magic wand and that car will become yours?

Not a chance in the world

You have a much better chance of getting a positive result by driving INTO the dealeship instead of PAST it and asking the SALES MANAGER when you can collect your car

  • +1

they will keep you waiting for as long as they can, come june yours will probably be in delay until sept/oct as someone who couldn't wait will threaten to go and buy elsewhere.
what car and features is it?

    • stock standard no extras Just a white ute

      • SSang Yong Musso?

        • Izuzu
think it's African so it either comes with a AK47 or wont get stolen either way don't see them on the news much like the BMWs the kids like to steal these days

          • @jizmo: So you do have the optional rifle rack !

  • +13

They already got your sale. The one on display is to attract more sales. Mo sales mo money.

  • +4

    Did you ask your dealer?

    • Nah couldn't do that. He gets upset very easy like he's angry all the time

He gets upset very easy like he's angry all the time

        wtf?

      • +1

… what kind of car salesman do you have?

        • +5

One that gets upset and angry very easily! 😆

        • the manager
tells me about companies complaining about signs back to front on left door. Tire kickers and heaps more about tax and freight. trips overseas and having to deal with the extra entertainment from the …….stop
          Must be a fun job

          • +1

            @jizmo: Warranty should be fun.
Isuzu can't help throwing customers under the bus, and your manager already has you ready to go.

      • Does your dealer operate out of the caryard too?

        • Who? GOD
Dunno but I'll bet you came in 3 months not like my car.

  • +2

    Just pinch the display model

    • +1

Hey I'm not a juvenile you know. Only they're allowed to do that in QLD

  • Go and buy a Mercedes! After all Karl Benz invented the car.

  • +1

Your sale is already secured for the dealer vs. offering an unallocated car to someone who walks in where they can make an instant sale.

    • +2

Then why didn't the dealer sell me the car from the other buyer waiting 6 months before me.
And why didn't they sell the other buyer 6 months before the car the other buyer had 1 year before that.

      • -1

Cause they can spot a sucker 10 miles away.

      • +1

Was there any immediate stock available when you went into purchase your car?

  • +2

The question is why would you wait nearly 1 year for a car?

    • +3

      Because I'm not paying $43K for a base model that's 'used' when a top-spec model is $44K

      • Cheap Ute in this world of overpriced everything. Obvs not 4x4.

    • +1

Because I don't want to buy somebody else's problem.
I'd rather drive a new car into the ground and repeat.
Seeing that 50% of people on the road can't drive for shit means there's a 50% chance cars rooted in suspension and steering for a start.

      • What is this specific car ? Sounds like Jimny.

      • mmmhhh but Oz spec vehicles will have a nearly new indicator as they don't get used much!

But I've been driving past the dealer for the last 2 weeks and there's a brand newie my colour. Sitting up on the display ramps not going anywhere waiting for some hail damage.

Then stop in to the dealer and ask what the go is?

    • +4

OP is scared of the angry salesperson

  • +4

I commend dealers that are refusing to sell their demo and display vehicles at the moment.
Too many are selling everything they have that there is nothing to look at or test drive.

  • +5

Not sure how believable it is given this came from a dealer trying to sell me a car, but the show/demo cars don't come from the same allocation as customers cars and they are incentivised by the manufacturer to keep them longer for show/demo purchases before they are sold as demo's. Different manufacturers may be different, this was from a Ford dealer.

  • Mate, if you haven't seen enough red flags yet you are in for a wold of hurt if you need assistance from your dealer for warranty issues….. Look up Isuzu warrant support and then cancel your order…

  • The one on display, probably doesn’t match the specs of your order.

Whilst it might be the same colour, does it have the same transmission/gearbox?
