Why are they called tarts ?

    • They're so delicious, they deserve a better name than plain old "pastries"

    • +9

Because it's rude to call them pop sluts

edit: I expected that to be censored lol, I'm a pop slut

      Page 220.

In 1960s, Post Cereals developed the process for making a breakfast food that could be heated in the toaster. They released their first product, Country Squares, to the public in 1963. The Kellogg Company immediately began a crash development program to counter Post Cereal’s Country Squares. After six months of work, Kellogg’s came up with a product that was initially called a Fruit Scone. The name was changed to Pop-Tart, which was a pun on the then popular Pop Art movement. Pop-Tarts have a sugary filling, which is sealed inside two layers of a pastry crust. They are thin enough to fit into normal toasters. Post Cereal’s Country Squares failed to take off but Pop-Tarts sales were extremely successful when they were released in 1964.

    • @jv how did you find out the best before date?

    • Yes: 22/04/2723. It'll be good for a while.

  • How would I cook these without a toaster?

    • +2

Maybe under the grill or air fryer

    • +3

leave them out in the sun

      • Tasmanian's remain sceptical.

    • You can microwave them - according to the instructions.

You could also post them to Elon and ask him to launch them into the sun on one of his rockets. Sounds like the sort of publicity stunt he would be interested in..

Just a note for any vegetarians/other diets, these contain beef gelatin.

      Yuck! Cancelled my order..

      • +3

Were you originally ordering for.the nutritional value?

        • Just a guess.. but I think he is probably a vegetarian.

          • @Aureus: Nope! Just don't believe beef gelatine needs to be an ingredient in a product such as this! Rather disgusting really. Same with Coles cheesecakes and Blue Ribbon ice cream. Beef gelatine has NO PLACE in these things..

            • @nubzy: Fair enough.

Adding gelatin to ice cream prevents big ice crystals from forming, so that is why they do it.

This high-sugar, low-protein junk food is a terrible choice to start off your day. Summary: Pop Tarts are high in sugar and contain refined flour and unhealthy oils. They provide very little protein or fiber.

    Are chocolate Pop-Tarts healthy?

They offer very little nutritional value

Pop-Tarts are loaded with sugar and fat and fail to provide your body with the healthy nutrients it needs. In fact, they’re considered empty calories because they’re a high calorie food with very little nutritional value.

    • Then don't buy them. There is nothing wrong with having an unhealthy breakfast now and again with a balanced diet.

Also, nutritional information is clearly listed and I don't believe anyone buying these thinks they're healthy. Don't like it, move on
