Biiiig negative is the built in battery. Be mindful of that.

    • I have a fairly old GoPro Hero+ LCD. I think it was one of the first ones that came out with a built in battery.

The battery life isn't great anymore, but it presented good value at the time. That's the trade off I guess.

You can get out of the subscription if you use paypal and cancel before they charge.

I would never buy this though because of the non removeable battery, the battery simply doesn't last long enough and you can't do the no battery trick with a power bank like you can with a regular gopro 11

    • While I agree with all your points, you just can't get that sweet Gopro 11 Quality any cheaper than this…. At RRP this thing is a straight RIP but at this price I think the cons are accounted for. I know its adding more weight but you can always plug in a USB C cable to charge on the quad id battery life is a concern.

The issue is that to completely remove the overheating issue, you need to remove the battery, which you can't do in the mini.

        • +1

Another issue is the dreaded Gopro freeze, which every Gopro owner will be familiar with. When it happens your only recourse is to remove the battery for a hard reset and regain control, if it happens on this device you'll have to wait for the battery to completely discharge, THEN recharge, then you can resume your day.

          • @Deadalready: Which issue is this? Is that while charging it? Because thats the only time I've had that issue on my GoPro 11.

    • I don't believe you can use the paypal for the "trick" anymore. Use a spare debit card or gift card with the exact amount of money for the GoPro only. The subscription will try and charge a few days later and they'll give up and email you about 2 months later.

  • hero 11 is $545 or or $614 for the bundle

  • have they fixed the overheating problem yet? I have 2 GoPro 10 Black's that have been flawless, can't see the need to upgrade…. GoPro 7 Session would be my choice in this form factor still

    • Its likely never going to be fixed in the way most people think.

GoPro always push the envelope of resolution, color depth, bitrate and frames per second, they always push it further then what the device can do in a warm stationary environment indoors.

If you don't want it to overheat, use 4k 30fps, if you are outdoors moving around or only recording shorter clips, you can use the higher quality settings.

In other words, lets say they make the best settings not overheat in the GoPro 12, its likely they will have 8k mode or something which will overheat in an indoor stationary environment.

Greattt. Another reason why my second hand Hero 10 still hasn't sold.. The second hand market on FB and gummy is ridiculously overpriced, even being the cheapest bundle available, won't sell because of all these damn sales.. >.<

    • +1

Gopros are like Diamond engagement rings, expensive the first time but with little resale value.

As someone stalking FB for another Gopro, the prices are waaaay too high. Nobody wants to buy, sellers not willing to sell, new Gopros are generally cheaper!

      • I got mine on sale, within a few months of release "on sale", which carried on for a further few months.. 🤣

And then the announcement of the variable 11's, then subsequent release has sort of screwed me on this cycle of GoPro's.

I even have a hacked hero 2018 (to Hero 5 black) to sell but now I'm wondering if it's even worth putting it up..

But yeah, I don't understand what's going on. I have a Hero 10 with original screen tabs (with the red at the end), under 20 hours of use, original box and accessories, Smallrig cage with Telesin 3 battery charger and 2x Telesin batteries, passthrough charging door and an unopened floaty for $550 but negotiable (but also not willing to ship). Barely got a message in the last 2ish months..

If I drop it any more, it'll be competing with Hero 8 - 9 bundles in either worse condition or with less accessories. I was also gifted a Action 2 (probably from previous OzB sales 😅) I'm yet to get around putting up too but I'm real worried it'll sit there aswell.

Sidenote: I also have an unopened One RS from a few months back that, in selling the H10, was hoping to pick up a good priced 360 module. Cheapest I saw a fee months ago was $330 delivered but it needed to be ordered in, according to the website of which I have never heard of.

What's a good price you'd pull the pin on for a good-to-perfect conditon 10 with just say the battery for example and not even any mounts?

        • +2

I wish I could give you a good price bracket, but I'm a bit of a cheapskate and already HAVE a Gopro considering a spare.

In my opinion/experience this stuff depreciates over time and having it waste space in your inventory is effectively equivalent of having thrown away the money. Personally, drop the price, have it sell quick and spend those hundreds on something you DO WANT and WILL USE.

          • @Deadalready: I mean you're not wrong.

But it could be worse, you could also have an 11-series system ready to build that's also been sitting for a few months after now having to move overseas in a few months.. 😅

I'm nearly at that point where I'd give up a lot of stuff for like a 15% reduction whereas you'd be lucky to push me to 10 normally, especially on new items that I'm normally selling at cost..

          • @Deadalready: Heads up buddy!

Came across this while trying to put a few more NEW items up for sale on Marketplace & others..

            https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/501020242185652/?m…

Media-Mod and Rode Mic would be like $150 value alone. It even looks like there's the a Max Lens Mod.. which is around another $150..

I'm in the suburb next door and I'm sort of frothing over the value but I don't want to fork out more money. I've spent like 2k in the last week on a telescope, microphone system, 2 watches and other bits..

Also, my damn H10 still hasn't been sold, probably because of these sneaky buggers..

  • +1

Considering upgrading from the grand Hero 5 but thinking of going for the Max instead…that's another $300. Anyone here reckon that is worth the extra $$?

    • +1

Go with the insta x3, way better than the Max

      • I was gonna get the X3, but after reading this, I have my doubts

        https://www.reddit.com/r/Insta360/comments/scsue6/_/

        • I was not aware, however, how long you keep it connected and how many people you may have in the surrounding knowing this ? Can be fixed via firmware and you can take the sdcard off and work on a PC, even if you loose all the funny effects.
Not a deal-breaker for me, there are many other ways our personal info leak unfortunately.
thinking to the quality of the camera compared to gopro 360 it is a no brainer, IMHO.

    • +1

In my opinion a 360 camera and an regular action camera are completely different and can't do each others jobs to a high standard.

    • +2

Funnily enough, I also run the reliable Gopro5!!! Spare batteries are cheap, you have plenty of secondhand accessories off Gumtree/FB Market and frankly there's not much of an improvement in the later models. I've been shopping for a SPARE Gopro5 in preparation when this one dies!

The Gopro 8 shares the same battery, Horizon lock (keeps your footage stable) and improved stabilisation but there are still serious overheating problems with the later models which hasn't been addressed yet. To my understanding the 9 and 10 are kinda trash but it's really confusing to try and research all these different models…

      • good to hear…maybe I don't need to upgrade it after all :)

      • +1

I had nothing but trouble with the 8, frequent lockups that required a battery removal to get it going again, and it often just stopped recording for no reason so it was no good to use for a helmet cam… The 9 is basically the same as the 8… (They both had the old GP1 processor, I think they were just pushing it too hard which resulted in lots of issues)

The 10 is great IMO, I don't really have any complaints.. The 10 & 11 both have the new GP2 processor, it seems fine…
        https://youtu.be/CapSxpc-_XA

I haven't had any overheating issues with the 10 but I only use it for short bushwalking and boating clips, and as a helmet cam on a motorbike & MTB with plenty of airflow… It "seems" the overheating issues are generally only a problem for people trying to use it as a non-action-cam, desktop vlogging, webcam, and such…

        • Thanks for the weigh in, I was about to pull the trigger on a secondhand Gopro9 but I think I'll cancel that idea.

  • +1

Still have my session and its brilliant.

  • Has anyone have a spare unidays code that I can use?
    Cheers, inflation (is killing me)
