Critical race moments have been missed.
"Oh, there's been a crash!" Cue 6 advertisments.
"And we're in the last 7kms with a furious pursuit of the solo rider." Cue 6 advertisments. "And we return with 2kms to go." (With the leader now caught by the pusuer. Women's tour, stage 3)

If 7's football coverage was like this, there would be massive outrage. Imagine, lining up for goal/conversion/penalty (trying to be code neutral); Channel 7 cuts to 6 ads……..
That's what happens when you cover something with less eyeballs glued to the TV. The same airtime will attract different $/ad. With less eyeballs they'll need more ads to cover the lower $/ad they can bring in to maintain a minimum $/hr.

@ozhunter: I actually thought it was more than that, I was simply pointing out that they don't have the need to plaster ads as often, as the taxpayer is paying for it, rather than advertisers.
@brendanm: Its not the ads. its the constant station promotions for other shows that Channel 7 is showing. Do we really have to look at 10 ads an hour for Real Housewifes, or Homeand Away,

honestly didnt even know they were hosting it but considering the shit house job 7 does with AFL and 9 has done with the Tennis doesnt surprise me - i cant comment on the big bash because i'd rather watch the paint dry over that but ive heard that is bad too
10 is not bad with the A league but its paid partner Paramount is dreadful - however everything else on 10 is shit ie the project and all the other garage reality tv crap they spin
as much as foxsports back in the day was a rip off it had good coverage
that said cant complain about Optus sports and Kayo they do the job
the SBS world cup coverage was 10/10 that should be the gold standard for Other FTA but sadly the ball drops a long way with others 7 in particular is pathetic some how they got wife beater Wayne Carry on for multiple years only when he got dont for coke he was finally sacked
I haven't watched it, but I'm sure it's as bad as their cricket coverage, their Supercars coverage, their AFL coverage… basically everything else they and other free-to-air networks do, given all they care about is jamming as many ads into the coverage as possible in an effort to recoup their costs (while holding the exclusive rights to something so no-one else can broadcast it).
With the TDU, it's almost as if all the ads are time scheduled, with no production input, or as if the director is not taking any notice of what is happening from either the cameras or commentary team.
