Louise Wilson MW: "Bec Hardy’s Village Green Shiraz’s namesake is the local cricket pitch, recalling Bec’s childhood memories of watching the sport with family and friends. The bottle is adorned with another of Bec’s gorgeous labels, this one featuring a painting by English artist Terry Harrison. This is a full-bodied wine with a rich bouquet of blackberry, plum and black currant. Generosity carries through to the palate with black pepper and spearmint highlights accompanying the succulent blackberry and black currant flavours."
VINTAGE: The 2021 growing season has been widely recognised as a once in a generation vintage, with perfect growing conditions in McLaren Vale.
VINEYARDS: The Lakeside Shiraz is sourced from three of our grower vineyards. The Klavenik Vineyard, The Conte Vineyard and Lower Tintara Vineyard all in McLaren Vale. Our Village Green Shiraz is mainly sourced from the Klavenik vineyard in a higher, slightly cooler part of McLaren Vale, close to Kuitpo in the Adelaide Hills, picked in April. A small parcel from the Howlett vineyard on the outskirts of Willunga completes the wine.
OAK: Six months in mainly older French oak.
CELLARING: Drink now to 2027 (Village Green). 2029 for the Lakeside Shiraz.
