Cheap PCIe Gen4 4TB M.2 SSD.

9 left in stock as of posting. Hope this helps someone!

PS5 compatible, comes with heatsink

This is PCIe Gen4, so the peak read/write speeds are high, but it is QLC, so these speeds are not sustained for long once the drive fills up. For this reason it is not ideal as a boot drive or for other write-intensive applications.

Microsoft take note. This is how it's done.

The ps5 at 700gb useable is a joke though.. Should not have been released at less than 1.5-2tb

    • Microsoft take note. This is how it's done.

      Did you mean Sony?

He meant crazy Series S|X external storage add-on prices and Microsoft blocking DIY attempts to use CFastExpress to m.2 NVMe converter. The initial block was a super short whitelist of SSDs. The new block apparently is even worse (so people who previously went down that path and bought even the right SSD might now be blocked as well).

OK, got it. I thought it was weird that he was blaming Microsoft for PS5 lol.

        • I don't have an xbox, but I am curious about this issue, got a link at all? My google fu has performed an exception error.

        • Exactly what I meant about xbox.

And PS5 is a different issue.. cheaper to fix, but 700gb usable is a joke with 100gb games being so normal.

Microsoft, stop being greedy. Don't enforce SSDs through CFastExpress slot must be in the whitelist (because that shortlist is TOO short and every SSD in that list is expensive and not that great). Then, add in more block to stop people from trying.

Don't block people attempting to do DIY CFastExpress on Series S|X.

I am not sure whether this is worth the price. If you are going for a PCIe gen 4 x4 SSD that's below specs recommended by Sony, it is not wise to pay too much for such SSD. With 2TB PCIe gen 4 SSD now technically could be have for $185-$190 (obviously also below specs), unless 4TB is really a must, might be better to wait for more decent deals.

    • You’re right. The read speed recommended by Sony is 5.5GB/s, and this drive only does 5.0GB/s.

      • Heatsink also looks a bit big/chunky to fit the PS5, so would also probably need to buy another heatsink anyway.

I got the 4TB 980 pro deal a couple of weeks back, went with this heatsink:

          https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09HSQQWCL?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_p…

          It's awesome

        • Apparently this heatsink fits fine, from reading the product answers on Amazon?

@pinchies: Not exactly, you cannot put the metal cover back on properly.

Image showing metal cover cannot be put back in 100%

You could still use it without putting the metal cover back in. It's due to the heatsink fins.

Also, PS5 firmware has correctly the speed test not to use zero fill, so Phison chipset SSDs cannot cheat in the test anymore:

            Read test result - PS5 - 3833.31MB/s

It's typical for Phison E16 based SSDs. Initially, when PS5's firmware to support SSD is released, zero fill read test was used, so Phison E16 SSDs actually exceeds the rated speed. Now, they are definitely being tested correctly by PS5.

            • @netsurfer: Thanks. Based on that then I’m asking the deal as expired. Cheers.

  • I just want 8TB prices to come down
