QLD: Translink's Fares for Peak and Off-Peak Hours are as follows:
Fare Type | One Zone | Two Zones |
---|---|---|
Peak | $3.55 | $4.34 |
Off-Peak | $2.84 | $3.47 |
The Fare Type is based on when you Tap-On. When using continuation, i.e. tapping ON again within 60 minutes of previous Tap OFF, the fare applied is such that you dont pay again. However, if you cross an additional zone, you need to pay the difference (eg: In peak hour, $4.34 - $3.55 = $0.79 additional.
My question is, if I have initiated a trip in Peak hours and completed it in One single zone, I have got charged $3.55. Now if I continue my journey, but this time I tap on in an off-peak time slot (within 60 minutes of my tap Off), how much additional would I be charged?
The Off-peak fare for Two Zones is $3.47. However, I have already paid $3.55 since my initial trip was a Peak Hour trip. In this sense, I should be charged $0.00 additional even if I cross two zones in off-peak. Am I right?
wouldn't your entire journey be peak as that's when you first started it hence the word continuation.
so you get charged $4.34
if you want to pay 3.47 then wait till off-peak times before you even start
