These have been $180ish in the past but prices seem to be going up on things, right now.

As the mods have combined my posts I will put the link for the light in the body.

  • looks ugly…

    • Yeah. It's Costco. Like a big Aldi.

      • +2

I would dispute that. Costco has good deals on brand products.

  • Be warned that this unit has two lids. One for air frying and one for multicooking. The lids take up a lot of room. I just went with the standard 8L multicooker and it's big enough without the additional lid.

    • The lid would take up a similar room to a small air fryer. It depends on if you want the air fryer capability in one unit.

  • This turns out to be more expensive than a regular InstantPot and a cheper airfryer and I've already heard on OzB and from one owner that they rather had two separate devices, so they can use it at the same time.

Horses for courses I’ve got the Pro version and we are getting rid of our small air fryer. The InstantPot crisper also works as a small oven, grill and a dehydrator as well.

The benefit of one device is that, say for example you cook a chicken in the instant pot, and now you want to crisp it a bit, then you change lids, keep it in the same pot and you can now crisp it. Having a seperate device, say a 5.7 litre air fryer, won’t be possible if you want to stuff a chicken in there.

But you’re right, the lid does take space, and overall it does become slightly cheaper than buying two devices, but as you said you do lose the ability to cook at once, so it depends on what’s better for you.

  • I recommend people consider the Ninja Foodi XL. It has a single lid that does it all.

The UK model also has a temperature probe for doing roasts. I got free shipping, so paid only $500.

I know it’s a lot more than the item in this post, but for anyone curious, I’m very happy with my Ninja.

Hoping this could be useful if people don’t know/haven’t heard about the Ninja Foodi XL. If interested, please be aware that the AU model doesn’t come with a built-in probe. The UK model does (OL750UK).

    • It is good to give people other options to consider.

    • 500 is a lot more expensive than 200, so you can’t compare.

      • I’m not comparing based on price.

At the least, there may be some people out there who would be interested to know about this alternative model.

Whether they are willing to consider $500 for an alternative (with extra features) is up to them.

I only knew about the Ninja because someone commented about the existence of it in another Instant Pot post, ages ago. And I’m so glad they did. Maybe someone will be glad I’ve posted about this too.

    • Interesting to hear about the Ninja Foodi XL. I searched for it and found it on Amazon AU for A$348 with free delivery (I don't know if that's free for all, or only those with Prime https://www.amazon.com.au/Ninja-Foodi-Smart-Stainless-AG551/…). This one is pictured and described as having a thermometer probe too. The model number is AG551 —- I don't know how it's different from the FG551 that costs A$829 (!! Also on Amazon AU). They look identical!

      • Ah, that’s the grill version. I’m talking about this one:
Ninja Foodi MAX 15-in-1 SmartLid Multi-Cooker 7.5L [OL750UK] Smart Cook System, Digital Cooking Probe, Electric Pressure Cooker, Air Fryer https://amzn.asia/d/fopOYtn

There are heaps of models and they’re all confusing!
