  • What's Near-sighted vision support?

I think it's how they come with an extra clip on frame that you can get your current prescription fitted in to (would require you to purchase new lenses for this, though)
they demonstrate this in the video on the website

  • Has anyone tried these? I used a similar concept when I was in hong kong 10-15 years ago and the concept was great but the technology wasn't there. hopefully, these are useable

    • I tried them in a HN that had a display model. Not terrible, like having a non-3d VR headset on. Can't say I'd buy a pair for myself, but if having a personal screen is what you want, you could do worse.

      • Be awesome on long plane/train trips.

        • Yeah, I could definitely see that. Really anywhere you don't want to have to hold up a screen. It would be hella fun to lay down with these attached to a switch and wireless joycons, just total vegetation.

  • They look quite bulky/ill fitting on the models' faces - it would attract stares. Interesting though

    YouTube review

  • I seem to remember being in some sort of focus group for the first gen versions of these. Hadn't realised they were on 2nd gen already. I want, but they just look like I'd be disappointed. Will wait a few more generations

    • I think it is a promising technology. I am sure next version(s) will be much better (if there will be). Especially on better resolution and compatibility.

Not sure if TCL is alone in this field but more competition would bring price and technology benefits consumers.

      • You mean like the Rokid Air?.

        • So there are others in the market already, it is good.

For gamers, refresh rate is very and resolution are low. I am sure they will improve/evolve on that in the up coming versions.

So are we saying bye bye to monitors :)

  • Anyone using this?

  • Does this have built in speakers?

I got a bit excited thinking it was one of the new ones TCL announced recently at CES - https://mixed-news.com/en/tcl-introduces-lightweight-data-vi…

I have the Rokid Air and happy with them but I might look into dropping by to see how it compares - https://www.amazon.com/Rokid-Glasses-Friendly-Pocket-Sized-M…

Demo video I made y'day showing what it's like using something like the Rokid Air mirroring the mobile screen - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPekqcZDPuA

Another alternative is the Nreal Air. Have not tried it but the reviews seem pretty good and they seem to be about A$560 delivered - https://www.amazon.com/Nreal-Micro-OLED-Augmented-iOS-Consol…

Just saw this comparison video between the TCL and Nreal Air - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XEECUk0AX4

    • Not sure if it matters for non developers but I like that Rokid Air provides an SDK for Unity to make your own custom AR-ish apps with it - https://ar.rokid.com/

Can't tell if either TCL or Nreal provide that from my initial searching.

Do these work for dumb people

  • Wont make me look smart.

    • Nothing short of reconstructive surgery will

    better buy a PS5

  • These are super cool.

  • Looks great. When they're QHD and 90hz I might buy one and ditch the monitor

WTF is this? A portable TV in glasses form? This enables the wearer to watch the Last of Us While mowing the lawn? That is incredible then, innit?

  • +1

I have the Nreal air and I would say it was good during my recent multi country travel.

  • When they have one that can connect to Netfix and stream, it will be the one everyone wants!

    • That's what these do… you connect your phone and stream what you want

      • yeah its via another device.. good start but direct wouldn't be too far away..

    • +1

If you have a compatible device (in general need USB-C), you can directly connect your phone (ie newer iPad with USB-C) to these types of glasses (eg Rokid Air) and direct watch Netflix etc which has HDCP (ie copyright protection) content. If you have an iPhone (lighting connection), you will unfortunately need to get additional HARDWARE to allow you to stream this content.
IE for a direct connection from iPhone to the glasses:
      - Apple lightning to HDMI converter
      - gofanco (or uGreen) HDMI 2.0 to USB C Converter
      - powerbank to power the goFanco adapter

This is why in all the marketing materials you do not see anyone with an iPhone directly connecting to the glasses. When the new iPhone 15 comes out, it might have USB-C and then we will all be set (hopefully). FYI the reason for this is because lightning does not support the power requirements for things like these glasses.

      • Well, I'm glad i have a $299 android phone that will do the same thing via USB-C :D

      • Just need to wait for the Apple Glasses with AirPlay.. ;)

  • Can you see through clothing with these on? Asking for a friend.

    • Trust you to want that feature. Scooters? Nope. Seeing everyone naked? Yep.

  • One is a comedic response, the other is a comment about violating a current State law.
