  • Put Amazon in title
    Nice find

  • Wouldn't let me change it ,store on Amazon is Sofirn

This looks like a pretty good deal.

I have one of these. This torch seems much better than my one but I'm wondering if I actually need a second torch. I feel once you start "collecting" these things, you'll just keep going.

I pretty much only use mine when I go to the garage or when I take out the garbage, but for some reason I always look at the torch deals.

    • +1

Need? Possibly not. Didn't stop me though. I have a genuine reason for having a decent torch (SES activities) but I have definitely gone down the "collecting" pathway, mainly in an attempt to find the ideal one. I'll find it one day, only for a better one to appear the day after.

      • Have you got an OLIGHT yet? Just curious if they are actually as good as claimed?

        • +1

I own a few Olight flashlights, my current EDC is an Olight Warrior Mini 2. I'm quite happy with it and if you just need something for general use I think they're great. I would only really recommend purchasing them when they have a sale on though as they're usually priced quite high compared to the competition but do keep in mind they tend to use proprietary battery cells compared to the other brands. I think it's said quite often but Olight are the Apple of the flashlight scene lol.

There are plenty of alternatives out there though that one could argue are just as good if not better and without the premium price tag but depends on how deep a rabbit hole you're willing to go down.

EDIT: Couple other brand names to keep an eye out for: Streamlight, Nitecore, Rovyvon, Surefire, Fenix, Thrunite, Lumintop and Wuben.

        • Olight are overpriced, use propriety batteries and below average LED CRI & CCT.

        Might be overkill.

      I am not collecting torches yet… 6 is not a collection… :)

But I am concerned about keeping lithium batteries alive since I am not able to use them all regularly. :(

  • I only recently updated from an old AA battery torch

Purchased a smaller version of this and was amazed at how powerful it was.

But yes I know what you mean,I am now waiting for one of the larger models to be discounted.

I know nothing about torchlights but after being continually impressed with the Wuben C3 that is regularly posted, I decided to pick this up as it's 900 Lumens brighter and still looks like a decent size with very convenient USB C charging.

Will report back when I receive

    • +1

      Wuben C3 is rated for 180m throw, IF22A 700m.

  • I got the sc31 very recently, had a play with it last night and it appears to get crazy hot across half of the whole torch after being on for a minute. Thinking it maybe faulty

    • They all get hot if you keep them on max brightness for an extended period.
The new globes and circuits are way more efficient, but if you've ever touched am old incandescent globe, even just 60w, you'd know how hot they get. 1000Lm, or 2000 lm is way more light, so even the fact that you still hold a torch with this level of brightness after a minute is a sign of how much better they are

    • They get hot on turbo. Found that after my SC31 somehow switched on in my pocket on Kangaroo Is. I presume it starts with the last setting - which was turbo for spotting koalas, or maybe it ramped somehow as I was walking along. Quite funny at the time. Great little torch

      • +1

Bet the koalas loved that. "Far out, that was a short night! Sun's out, get chewing."

        • Wasn't close up but they didn't appear to be disturbed. Stayed at a farm rental property so they were probably used to intrusive humans.

  • Thanks OP. Ordered. I too feel like I’m on a slippery slope of “just one more torch”…

  • I have this, it’s a great torch - and this is a good price.

    Recommended.

  • +2

This is a great torch, my nightly driver for sun-lancing animals running amok and tearing up the back yard.

  • +1

Would be great if they sold a neutral/warmer led with high CRI

  • Bought one, thanks @kmp!

  • Thanks OP. Ordered. Didn't need it but had to get at that price.

  • I’ve got 2 of these but there is a hollow white tube like thing that comes with it.
Anyone know what that is for as there is no mention of its use??

    • +3

It'll be to allow you to use a slimmer battery without it rattling about.

    • +2

      18650 to 21700 adapter?

    • +1

The torch is made for 21700 size cells so the sleeve allows 18650.

  • +2

I have one of these, good beam throw, but damn does it get hot in turbo mode.
