    Stand on your roof?

    I literally have trouble loading any website, it will struggle to load the banners of any site in under 2 mins…

    Sounds like congestion.

      We depend on an optus 4g connection for voice and data at our office and I can confirm as soon as it hits peak time in morning and arvo it turns to absolute ****.

        Same with Telstra, actually my Aussie Broadband (Optus) is a little faster than than the office Telstra.

        • that's a shame… we are looking at ditching optus at end of year because the support has been practically non-existent once the 60 month sales contract was signed… if telstra is the same..jeez not sure what we are going to do.

          Probably have to run an extra ethernet cable in roof space to allow for better reception I guess…

    iiNet (TPG) uses same Vodafone network. Stay away if possible.

    • This! Avoid at all cost. Unless you are sitting under the tower, get Telstra OR Optus for 5G.

        is -117dBm poor signal strength?

        • is -117dBm poor signal strength?

          Yes, its a very poor signal strength.

          • @GordonD: to clarify, that is the signal strength of the 5G signal to the modem. not my wifi signal to the modem. is that still bad for the 5g connection?

              @GenghisGun: Yes.. -80 ~ -90 is a decent signal.

              What sort of speed test results are you getting peak/off-peak?

              Dual SSID 2.4ghz/5ghz is a better option for legacy devices if available

    Additional COVID booster shots and tinfoil hats apparently help…

  • Why not share what config you changed in the modem settings in case someone else comes here looking for solution.

    • changed the auto band-switching so that the connected device can select the 5ghz band only instead of randomly switch over to 2.4 ghz

    look into a CellFi, probably the only actual solution which will boost the signal (will not help with network congestion though).
