I'd actually be inclined to get this from the Microsoft Store instead since I have an Xbox as well but if you are firmly PC only…
[PC, Steam] Forza Horizon 4, Standard Edition $33, Deluxe $45.50, Ultimate $52.50 @ Steam

$129 for the pair too
Better a Forza Horizon fan I certainly have to buy it before it meet its horizon like FH3 and others previous edition, but I will hold to buy from Microsoft edition and I am play on console as well as PC like OP.
Wish FH3 was on Steam, especially given it's an Australian setting.
True that… Infact I also have the disc for console. Still unopened 😁
I missed the final Forza Horizon 3 sale before delisting. Now the only I can play it on PC is a pir8 version. So much for being a free society when so many things cannot be legally purchased.
Feel like a 4.5 year old game with micro transactions should be cheaper
It may have micro transactions but it has a huge amount of game without using them.
It really doesn't have microtransactions.
I finished it 100% without spending a cent, then I boughr the DLC.
You get quality of life improvements with Ultimate version. You get more cars, bonus house (maybe bonus houses, can't remember whether you get 1 or 2), weekly VIP bonus super wheelspins. While you can still get most of them by spending more time, it could feel a bit grindy.
The treasure island expansion basically makes life easier to get some easy in game credits to buy cars or houses. So, while you could get the DLCs later, the earlier you get them, the earlier you benefit from them. If you purchased it late in the game, you won't benefit much. However, if you get it right away, the game feels even more pleasant to play.
Obviously haven't played. You don't at all need to spend and nor are you really encouraged to like other games.
Yeah same, there is no detraction from the game whatsoever if you don't buy anything.
In FH4 you get gifted so much in game credit etc it's not necessary, I have around $50,000,000 without really trying, all of the houses and most of the cars. Not sure if they have fixed the impulse trigger issue on Steam games. I’m playing FH on Xbox only now mostly because of this.
Reminder:
- This game is on GamePass.
- It's a PlayAnywhere title, which means you can play on both PC, XBox (One S|X, Series S|X). The save game on cloud do carry across.
- Forza Horizon 5 is also on GamePass.
Forza Horizon 4 does feel slightly more micro-transaction enticing with one of the DLCs called Treasure Island (after you collected the treasures (in game credits) I doubt you will replay that DLC). My suggestion is that just play it on GamePass and consider Forza Horizon 5. I do own Forza Horizon 4. However, I like some of the features and the DLCs for Forza Horizon 3 better (pity Microsoft has no plan to release a 4K/60fps patch for XBox One X, Series S|X) better and Forza Horizon 5, so far, combines all the good bits of previous Forza Horizon games and get rid of some of the bits people kinda dislike about Forza Horizon 4.
Forza Horizon 3 was removed from gamepass and sale almost exactly 4 years after it was released in Sept 2020.
FH4 was released about 4 years and 4 months ago…
Microsoft does a sale on pretty much every Forza title before it reaches end of life status. If you are a fan like me, then you might have collected/bought Forza Horizon games (I have FH2, FH3, FH4, and I bought the Ultimate add-on for FH5, waiting for the base game to be cheaper). However, in reality, from an OZB way of thinking, try to resist wanting to collect them. There is always a new one every once in a few years. I mostly play FH5 nowadays, with a bit of FH3 from time to time. I only play FH4 nowadays for a minute or two every few weeks to collect the weekly VIP wheelspins.
Forza Horizon 4 developer confirms game isn't being delisted anytime soon so we are probably not going to see a big discount sale anytime soon on FH4 from Microsoft. If you are not a big / loyal fan of Forza Horizon series, I would suggest skip FH4 and go FH5 now. Micro$oft knows Forza Horizon games are popular so only the base game is on GamePass and Microsoft does tend to offer a discounted Ultimate add-on pack early (soon after the game is released) to entice people to buy that (coz. that's when that add-on pack is most enticing).
Forza Horizon 3 was released in Sep 2016, not Sep 2020.
He meant FH4 has been released 4 years ago. Based on FH3 reaching end of life status 4 years after release, FH4 could be reaching that status soon. The issue with a Forza Horizon game reaching end of life status is that you will no longer be able to buy them (due to car licensing issue, Microsoft cannot sell them anymore).
Forza Horizon 3 was released in Sep 2016, not Sep 2020
That matches what he wrote. It reached EOL status 4 years later (which is Sep 2020).
@netsurfer: No he specifically wrote that FH3 was removed from gamepass and sale exactly 4 years after Sep 2020. But never mind. :)
@hollykryten: Okay, right… so he meant:
Forza Horizon 3 was removed from gamepass and sale almost exactly 4 years after it was released, in Sept 2020.
@netsurfer: Yeah ok.
However FH4 was actually released on Windows and Xbox One in Oct 2018. Which means that it should have already gone off sale by now if it was 4 years before Forza Horizon games go off sale since it's been over 4 years since then. But i think it must be whenever Microsoft thinks that the game is no longer profitable any more. Obviously they think that they can still get some profit from the FH4 game sales.
@hollykryten: I think later FH games will reach EOL later than previous FH games. It is mostly due to newer games taking longer to develop. FH4 probably cannot quite reach EOL yet because the second expansion for FH5 isn't out yet.
There is also another factor in play I think. Forza Horizon 4 offers 4K/60fps for XBox One X. I don't have a One X anymore, but from what I checked on Google, it seems that FH5 only allows 4K/30fps on One X. I think it is still good to have one FH game that runs 4K/60fps on One X.
Does it still not support vr on pc?
Man, if you enjoy whiny, nasally American V.O's urging you to do the thing like you're a 5 year old, constantly, do I have the game series for you.
You meant British? Playground Games is a British game developer.
Probably talking about Scott Tyler who is American. He features in all of the games. I don't mind him.
Surely you are talking about Dirt 5
FH4 or FH5 through Steam or both via the Gamepass VPN deal?
whats the difference between the editions?
Interesting they wont drop the price below this point since end of 2021, was tempted during christmas sale but decided against.
Good prices, great game! FH5 is also on sale for $58/$77/$90!
