    But no Dr.Pete.
    I miss him. :(

Just had my brother bring some back from US. I wish they would just sell it here again.

      • +2

They did recently but some of us who ordered it when it was in stock didn't even get it and only found out when we received the package.

        • I wasn't aware it was a limited run and only grabbed two bottles. After recently paying amazon tax to get mixed 6 packs over from the US I can say, in my opinion, the AU version was inferior.

  • They need to bring back the Mojito flavour!!!! It was brilliant.

  • No Xstream Energy in stock unfortunately, but great pricing nonetheless.

Pepsi flavour does not taste like Pepsi.

    • +5

Pepsi owns sodastream, this syrup is made in Israel and is kosher. Australian Pepsi is made by Asahi in Sydney. It’s bound to taste a bit different.

    • +2

Came here to say this. Bought the full fat sodastream Pepsi syrup and then found it includes sweeteners unlike actual Pepsi which is made with sugar and no sweeteners. Taste is not alike, disappointed.

      • What’s the Pepsi max version like?

      • The UK has a tax on sugar in drinks, drinks makers get around this by reducing the sugar and adding sweetener, I’m guessing this English labeled sodastream syrup is probably sold in the uk as well. Which would be a much bigger market.

      • I heard they do this because of the concentration used.

When Cottee's went from 2l bottles of cordial to 1l bottles, they found the liquid was to thick if they used all sugar.

Not sure how true this is, but is somewhat believable.

It’s not Pepsi, only “Pepsi flavour”

Pepsi flavour does not taste like Pepsi.

It's only Pepsi if it's from the Pepsi region of Israel, otherwise it's just sparkling sweet water.

  • This would have been great, but coles had half price last week.

    • Coles don't stock all the flavours.

      Woolies half price this week.

My order total was $48.75 and I received free shipping, so I am not sure you have to spend $75 to receive free shipping.

    • +1

Thanks. That convinced me to make a purchase.

    • im not getting free shipping? what was your order?

    • Had a similar value order and got the free shipping. Thanks!

  • +9

I think if you spend $75 pre-discount, it'll give you free shipping even if your final total is below $75 after applying the coupon.

    • +5

Did for me with $55 after discount.

I'm not sure I've made a good choice recklessly making this purchase without having waited for JV to list the ingredients and say cancer a lot first though.

    • Thanks, saved me from trying to force some random extras to get to the limit :)

  • At this price, how much does it cost for 1L including syrup, sparkling water? Just seeing if it is is worth as compared to buying bottled drinks from coles/woolworths.

    • +8

It works out to $2.97 per bottle of regular syrup. This makes "up to" 9L. At that ratio it's 33c per litre for the syrup.

However, it depends on how much syrup you add. Fill to the middle line of the cap and that's 50ml, added to 840ml of water, for a total of 33.75c per 890ml, or 37.9c per litre.

Fill the lid to the top line and that's 60ml, for a total of 40.5c per 900ml, or 45c per litre.

A refill cylinder is $19 and claims to make 60L of gas, or 31.6c per litre. Err on the side of being really generous with the gas and assume you'll only get 40L. That's 47.5c per litre.

So all up you're looking at around 85c per litre for regular strength and generous gas use, or 92.5c per litre with a stronger syrup ratio and generous gas use. Add in amortising the machine, which depends what you pay for it, and it's probably not worth it if you'd otherwise buy store brand colas like Que, but otherwise you're prob breaking even or coming out ahead.

I find bottom line tastes best for the pepsi syrups. Getting a larger CO2 cylinder from kegland https://www.kegland.com.au/freedomone-sodastream-adapter-hos… will be the biggest saving. Turns 30c/l down to less than 10c for the gas.

        • Too much fannying about if you plan to keep using the SodaStream device and cylinders.
Ie. Have to buy 200L cylinder & adapter, and only get ~3x SodaStream cylinders out of a big one.

            @G-rig:

Only ~3? Where did you hear that?

My 6kg CO2 bottle gives ~800 bottles of soda water. $50 to swap/refill.

            • @photonbuddy: Nah talking about the other one people suggest from keglsnd. All good

              • @G-rig:

Nah talking about the other one people suggest from keglsnd.

That's essentially the same thing I have. Mated to a 6kg bottle. The one shown in the pic is the smaller bottle, but still considerably bigger than a 60l SodaStream canister.

                • @photonbuddy: It's alright, I just got 2 60L on rotation and refill when spotlight has them for 12-14$. Don't go through that much. My point was the bigger ones (200L are only really 3 X 60L so not worth the trouble and cost of buying the bigger bottle+ adaptor).

        • If your family drinks a lot of soft drinks, the CO2 bottle is a no brainer. It's cheaper than when I first got mine - $250 for the 6kg bottle, and $130 for the genuine CO2Doctor adapter.

There are other flavours out there as well. I use the 9:1 Diet Rite and Aldi brands. Cottee's used to be 9:1, but dropped it to 7:1.

The 9:1 ratio is great, because you fill the bottle to the line, gas, and top it off with flavour.

I did buy some new bottles recently, and found there seemed to be 2 fill lines. Using the upper line still gives the 9:1 ratio.

@photonbuddy: Soft drinks ain't good for you but enjoy plain soda water.. the normal cylinders fine but depends how much you get through as you say.

            • @G-rig:

Soft drinks ain't good for you

Well … that's probably true, but I have never liked plain soda water. Tastes horrible.

              • +1

@photonbuddy: If you don't want to spend that much on larger cylinders, you can use the dry ice method, a little bit more fiddly but worth it for me as we just don't need to top up that often.

                • @shkippy:

A little bit fiddly, as you say. It must hit that sweet spot between heavy drinkers and light drinkers.

Much easier for me to have the bottle, and I would do it again, especially now that prices have dropped on the adapter and the bottles.

                  • @photonbuddy: Went to a cafe the other day and they got proper taps with complimentary sparkling water.. would be better rig up something like that with one big bottle and one hose instead of a mixture of all this gear ;).

Basically choose on system or another

                    • @G-rig:

Almost certainly better, but damn … would be sooooooo much more expensive. Was it chilled water? That'd add even more expense.

                      • @photonbuddy: yep and they had a tap with normal chilled too.
Pretty good filing up a bottle of sparkling..

Is there a place to buy a small amount of dry ice?
Last time I had to buy few kgs and there is no way to "save it for later".

                  • +1

@SickDmith: The smallest I've found is 1kg at BOC which fills the two cylinders I have. If you're only doing it one at a time it is probably wise to invest in more cylinders.

Shame they don't have diet tonic https://sodastream.com/products/diet-tonic I've been looking for this flavour for some time. Is it just me or does it seem curiously/inordinately difficult to buy/find that flavour in Australia?

    • +2

Never seen it. If I found it I'd buy a case.

  • Best flavours? Tried the Sunkist Zero the other day and seemed decent. I'd prefer no sweetener flavour though.

  • Awesome! Mirinda is amazing for those who haven't tried it. It's closer to Tang than Fanta in terms of orange flavour and you don't need to make it strong with syrup. Going to stock up, our supermarket sells out of these more often than not.

Pepsi company flavours currently on sale at woolies for $3.50 each which will beat the price here if you spend under the free shipping threshold.

Thanks. Wanting to try cream soda, but the ingredients scare me a bit: Sugar, Water, Acid (citric acid), Flavour, Acidity Regulator (Tri Sodium Citrate), Sweeteners (Acesulfame K, Sucralose), Preservative (potassium sorbate), Colours (E102, E133). Both sugar and sweeteners? I use about 1/4 of the recommended serving size (pepsi max) so it's not too overwhelming. Do people use the whole amount? Maybe instead of these I'll use those fruit tea bags.

I'm a big Creaming Soda fna but not of the Soda stream one. If you like the Kirks or the Schweppes Brown Cream Soda you won't enjoy the Soda stream version imho. I tried it during a half price sale. Couldn't wait to finish it off and not buy again. Currently trying out the Ginger Beer which isn't bad but I generally stick to the No Sugar stuff like Pepsi Max and the "Waters" flavours by Soda stream. I only ever use the low level line soine last a long time.

      • Thanks for the review. Guess I'll hold onto my money :o I got the pepsi max last night from woolies thinking 9L is not that much, glad I did not double down on it. Would take me forever to go through just this one. I like the taste of water fine by itself, just gets a bit predictable as I age lol

I like the organic Soda Press Co organic flavours. Could do with less rice syrup and sugar but at least you can control the mix.

  • How is the solo zero?

    • One of my go-to's love it. Reckon it's the best sugar-free syrup and one of the best lemon flavoured syrup. It's just so expensive I use lemon flavoured diet-rite otherwise.

What's the cheap hookup for the gas bottles?

  • Thanks, bought 11 flavours of 6 packs.
Paid $163.35 but I can make 594l of soda!
I think I don't have to buy soda drinks for 2years…
$2.475 per syrup bottle, it's a pretty good price I think!

        Yes, I know that.
I have several Sodastream syrups at home. Normally they are 1 yrs but I don't care, it's syrup.
And I don't buy zero syrup.

    • Thats a lot of soda pops..
Hope you got a good electric toothbrush too ha
