A real 10% off after price jacking would be nice, but then the item I want to buy has to a part of the sale. The 5% off ebay sales seemed real based on products I was interested in, but at 5% I"m not impulse buying

  • +2

Last ebay sale with $50 off was really good.

    Remember when AMD Ryzen 5 5600G was down between $159 to $169 in mid-October to mid-November 2022?
And later when it got jacked to $199+ from mid-November onwards, to milk every penny out of Christmas shoppers?

What are the odds that it will go "on sale" for $169 now…

    • Only with a afterpay sales

    • +1

Futu/Shopping Express had it listed as $212 prior to this pathetic "sale". Now jacked up to $249, as expected. A-holes.

    • Ha ha ha!

With eBayPlus 22% off you can now get the 5600G for the low price of $194.22

      • +1

Prior to this promotion, you could use generic 5% coupon code to get it down to $201.40
Or if you were lucky, the limited time 7% coupon code to get it down to $197.16

So technically, anyone with eBayPlus can save a whole $2.94 - $7.18

Heck, with these savings that Plus membership basically pays for itself, don't it? ~sarcasm~

    • You can say that again.

  • Seems all cheap inno rtx 4070ti jacked up to $1599 from$1525, let see whats the price like after 22% discount.

    • well, at $1599, the max discount will be $300. So it will be like the shopping express deal tonight at $1299. So its not too bad.

    • Refurbished A80J “55 down to $1349 using coded REFB22. Not sure how good refurbished are.

Recent eBay code brought a brand new one was $1606 so not sure if it’s worth taking the risk with refurbished for the $257 difference.

      • +1

Gotta be careful to read the whole listing.

Almost bought a 42" that seemed like a bargain, but had "screen may have surface scratches and/or dead pixels" and "no returns for change of mind" in the extended description (where you have to scroll down the page a bunch).

That's not to say you can't find a bargain, but just be careful to read the entire description and to check the eligibility for eBay returns.

PNY GeForce RTX 4080 16GB XLR8 is still listed as $2099, which makes it $1799 with 22% discount.

I don't think I've seen a better price for a partner 4080 card, so might be a worthy buy for someone.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/115665463657

    • -2

listed as $2099, which makes it $1799 with 22% discount.

      1 - 1799 / 2099 = 14.29%

      • +1

        discount capped at $300 :(

      • Ah yes, there is a cap of $300 so it's not actually 22% off.

You get the maximum discount on offer, so I guess it's still good.

        NOW SOLD OUT ANYWAY

Rubbish deal. I complained to ebay but nothing done.

Phone price agent up $40 in prep for the sale. This is fraud. And we have to tell Asic or some other agency.

    • +5

It does seem completely deceptive and an absolutely anti-consumer practice.

Has anyone tried to report it to ACCC?

      • +1

Yes, but it didn't amount to anything.

I think it skirts the anti-consumer laws by being a "per-listing" sale where there doesnt need to be consistency on the model/price.

Or I could be way off, I'm not a lawyer.

        • If qe. An somehow show that certain sellers are deliberately hiking up the prices pre sales and on a repeated instances then ACC should address it.

Maybe it just takes more people to complain before they act.

  • +2

There's the Kleenmaid 12kg Top Loader Washing Machine with 5Year Warranty at $1400 ,
That's a couple hundred better than Costco for probably the best built machine on the market.
Stress tested to 20 years according to Costco's webpage.
Of course it's a top loader and their not too popular,
    but there's only a few left ,
    so that works out .

    • +1

      some people prefer top loaders
which has their own pros and cons

      • +2

        Pro -
Not having to buy a new one every few years

        Con -
Having nothing to throw out to the street for council clean up

    • Absolutely the best machine ever. I love it. Way better than the front loaders.

  • +4

Negging. Limited pickings on jacked up prices. This deal is maybe a +10 at best, so another 350 negs or so should balance it out.

    • +1

Welcome to your first eBay sale. You'll now know for the dozens more in 2023.

      • +3

Haha! Not my first by a long shot. I'm not negging your post per se - good to know about it - but I'm frustrated by the Ozbargain voting system and the eBay jack-sellers…

I am trying to work out a way we could hold eBay accountable. Like a "class action"-type misrep claim under the ACL, if we have enough evidence of all the items that we intended to purchase at 78% (based on 22% off) that were actually only reduced to 90%. Unfortunately, ebay is only advertising it as 22% off whatever price is listed, not off the previous price…

        • eBay can't be held responsible as they're a marketplace and not the seller. Only individual stores can be held accountable.

          • @Clear: It depends on the allegedly culpable conduct. As noted, ebay advertises the sale, the store sets the price, and the "collusion" avoids the ACL provisions. Probably. At least wrt specific products. But there is an argument that an advertised 20% off sale is misleading or likely to mislead when ebay don't control the price.

  • Does the code work with anyone? doesnt work for me

  • Sparesbox listings dont appear to be jacked up.

    • Looking suave!

        • Gotcha. Yes, they're a reseller. I can see the tag on all their products.
Any mice you would recommend for small hands, claw grips for FPS & TPS?

          • +1

@lordra: the most comfortable mouse ive ever used is definitely the razer basilisk ultimate (wireless) with its thumb rests, its just shaped the way a human had would hold a mouse.

If i were to wear disposable gloves, im a L size, wouldnt be able comment for smaller hands, but these are definitely the best ive used for sure

  • Picked up an Anycubic Kobra Neo. At $264 for a direct drive 3d printer with self leveling, flexible build plate and a 1kg role of PLA is awesome. Have had an Anycubic before and it was pretty decent.

reminder to everyone… do not talk to appliance online sales rep online or over the phone about ebay deal as they will be quick to change prices as well as stock availability .. !

after I talked to Appliance online for the item i wanted to purchase they jacked up price… so basically i was talking to them to see if i can buy direct from them instead of ebay to get better deal but as soon as i tell them how much i could save with ebay using coupon code they simply changed prices and stock for some of the item… lol :D :D :D .. !

1 pack for $62… or $49.60 after 20% off. Buy from Apple for $49 lel.

  • Cheaper to use a microwave

  • 22% off? Unlikely. This promo stinks. Lots of price increases as usual. More like turd-e-two percent off.

  • +2

Good way to see if an item has been price jacked is to use this link https://www.ebay.com.au/bin/purchaseHistory?item=<<item number>>

It'll show you previous sold prices for that item.

  • So, confirm we can use 5x? I have eye on a cheap item now but another much more higher value could be a target later.

    • Used twice so confirm probably 5 is correct

  • anybody had any issue using the code making an offer & accepting?

    • I have just paid an accepted offer item, 1 hour ago.
      All good.

      • I had to leave a remainder and pay the balancd with paypal and it went through

        Not sure why

  • Why did I stupidly not see the expiry date of this voucher. Have to wait now for the next deal Sucks

Any clue when can we expect something similar next ?
