    Lefty Loosey Righty Tighty?

Might just be screwed on real tight.

    Good luck!

Also, if the shower arm thread is right-handed (i.e. righty tighty, lefty loosey), then it's possible that the wall fitting is counter-threaded or left-handed (i.e. righty-loosey, lefty-tighty). See more here:
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screw_thread#Handedness

Spray some WD40 into the threaded area, wait a minute or so and try again. Might be just siezed a little.

If you don’t care about preserving the original head , maybe get a hammer and tap on the silver thread part , combined with wd40 as per above.

Swearing at it may or may not help too

Even if the swearing doesn't help, it makes you feel better…

  • It's supposed to be tight. Use the silver thread as leverage with multigrips and twist, it'll do something eventually

    Pull outwards from the wall.

Get some Freeze and Release spray. Squirt some in and be very careful when you try to remove the fitting. Sometimes the pipe behind the wall is not very well supported and can bend or break.

    • That's true
      .If that bends…oh boi..oh sht

  • Another option if you are not saving that fitting, is apply some heat with a small gas torch into the fitting, then cool the inside quickly by turning the cold water on for a moment.

  • Get a hair dryer on full heat and apply the air to the join. Then keep trying to turn it. Periodically apply more hair dryer.

Agree with the others, it will just require a heavy counter-clockwise rotation, just be careful not to crack the tiles if you hit it with a hammer etc.
If you want to save the fitting, maybe use a screwdriver inside the threaded part pointing down to get some leverage, just be careful not to bend the screwdriver if it is a nice one!

  • vise grips on the threaded part should give you enough power to rotate it. put a cloth over if you wish to save it.

Stick a large screwdriver in the bottom outlet hole and apply force slowly counterclockwise using the screwdriver as a lever and I'm sure it will turn.

If you can't remove it easily consider calling a plumber, if you damage the pipe in the wall it will be costly.

Ask your wife to have a go at it. :)

If she gets it off you can claim that you loosened it for her……
