For those who missed out on yesterday's deal can now pick it up from the other Topton store. This deal is better as it gives you the choice between the newer Intel i226-V 2.5G LAN ports or older Intel i225-V B3 2.5G LAN ports for the same price.

These Mini PCs are a good option for those interested in OPNsense, pfsense, Home Assistant, Win10/11, Linux etc. The Intel Celeron N5105 4 core/4 thread CPU can decode a lot of 4K, HDR and VP9 content thanks to the Intel UHD graphics, making this a good media player as well.

Since this is a Barebones PC you need to provide your own RAM and storage, however there are bundles available with these included if you don't mind paying more. There's also the option for the cheaper Intel Celeron N5100 CPU, but I recommend choosing the N5105 as it has a higher TDP (6W vs 10W), higher base frequency (1.10 GHz vs 2.00 GHz) and higher max turbo frequency (2.80 GHz vs 2.90 GHz).

Featuring an M.2 NVMe 2280 SSD slot, 2.5" SATA slot, 2x DDR4 SODIMM slots, HDMI 2.0 & DP 1.4 with 4K@60Hz support, PCIe 1x WiFi/BT/4G/3G slot, SIM card slot, 2x USB 3.0, 2x USB 2.0, COM Port, VESA mounting and AU plug.

  • Add Bundle: N5105 i225-V B3 or Bundle: N5105 i226-V to the cart
  • Apply the coupon WinterC10 at checkout
  • Further US$14.01 discounted applied automatically at checkout

AU$ based on current Mastercard rate, GST inclusive and stacks with cashback.

  • Thanks, grabbed one after missing out yesterday

  • damn thats good value - just went to opnsense box but used a dell optiplex

  • Any reason to choose the older i225-V?

  • +1

Does anyone know of a stand-alone FTTN modem?
I’d like to replace my bulky bridged router.

  • +3

Well I went to order one
    It said
"We had to close this order due to account security concerns. Please place an order again later, or remove the coupon and try again. "
    But still charged my card

So now I have a cancelled order and a charge and trying to get help and it's just an auto respond bot

    • That's pretty frustrating, thanks for sharing.

      • Seem to be related to using WinterC10 coupon.. so be wary of that

  • Seems the barebones one for is sold out now. Only the more expensive versions with RAM and SSD included.

    • Yeah odd. I just noticed the same thing. Shame.

  • Just to confirm, does this unit have separate slots for the nvme drive and wifi card, or do you have to choose one or the other?
Looks like it would make a solid router, but I feel like (in my envisioned use-case at least) it might be worth selecting a higher-end model if I can add a 6/6E card.

    • +1

Separate. This is what it looks like inside though there are some newer revisions that have it with an M.2 slot for WiFi 6.

      • Thanks for confirming 👍
Might have to have a more in-depth look at the various models and revisions before making a decision then (checking the last thread, some even have 10GBps ports and it’s apparently possible to get PiHole running in a VM).

  • Looks like it's sold out. There's a slightly different one for US$126.76 with VGA instead of DP and no COM port that's still instock.

  • This looks like the same deal: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004825130366.html?spm=a2…
It came to around $198 with GST and store coupon applied from memory.
I didn't buy one; still undecided whether to do so for use as a PC.

  • So this, and others similar, they all use a custom motherboard? Is future driver support a concern?

    • The individual components all have their own drivers so it's no issue.

  • would this be overkill for this mini pc?

  • @Clear Any more of these deals for those of us who have missed out twice now…? :P

  • Thanks, got one with RAM + storage bundle. Any recommendations for a wireless AP that supports wifi 6? I have an ac86u that can keep me going for now but prefer wifi 6 when I set up pfsense

  • Did anyone else get a message from the seller that the N5105 with i226-V barebones bundle was out of stock and they would like to cancel the order?
I ordered last night, but apparently they didn't have stock then.

    • I got the message and I bought it like 10 min after this deal went up..

      • If you are still keen like I was, you seem to be able to get a very similar item from KingNovy at https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004825130366.html and ShopBack apparently works for this item as well.
Annoyingly you will have to create another account to reactivate the WinterC10 discount code as I don't think that gets reinstated after being refunded, but this got me within a few dollars of the original N5105 and i226-V deal.
Fingers crossed these guys actually have stock…

  • How much power do these use compared to say an Asus router running Merlin? Does anybody know?

  • I received this topton mini pc with i226 NIC and installed opnsense but it seems to be throttling my network speeds to 100Mbps through the NIC possibly due to some kind of driver issue with this newer NIC. Anyone else having this problem or know of a solution? TIA
