Happy New Years Everyone!!!
I was just doing some research with vehicle extended warranties as my mother's Skoda Yeti is far out of manufacturer's warranty and as a Euro designed vehicle, Will tend to need expensive repairs.
I came across a company called https://www.autoauto.com.au/ which quotes all Skodas at $1330 inc GST for 3 years extended warranty up to 200,000km
(So if you do low KM's you get the full 3 years but if you're car is close to 200,000KM then this warranty is less valuable)
They will cover all repairs that the manufacturer would have performed under warranty up to the market value of your car. Assuming your car has a market value of $10-$15k you should have most repairs covered I believe (Maybe not a full engine replacement)
To me this sounds like worthwhile insurance considering water pumps and thermostats seem to go quite easily on VW/Skoda vehicles and DSG issues, ect…
I know from experience a water pump replacement cost approx $1200 including labour so this effectively pays for itself.
The other bonus is you can pay the premium in 10 monthly instalments at no further cost. $146.30 per month for 3 extra years of peace of mind is a small price to pay in my opinion.
Might be worth looking into if you were looking at some peace of mind motoring.
Have a look for your vehicle here - https://www.autoauto.com.au/extended-warranty-by-make
Obviously the more less reliable your make, The more expensive. :(
So many loop holes, caveats, limits and conditions in these extended warranties.
No thanks.
Is this an option then for the yeti? Probably a 3-6 month waiting period.
