Hi All,
I've happily used aldi coffee for around 7 years. Starting after mid 2022, around 25% of the time coffee only comes out for approx 10 sec then nothing. The pump is still working however the pod seems 'clogged' and this happens on all 3 machines I use (home, work and inlaws). Work is an older machine, home is about 2 years and the inlaws is almost brand new.
In short, the machines are NOT the problem it's the pods. The pods used are always #12 Abruzzo.
When clogged, I have popped the pods out and pierced the base with a toothpick and viola they work again. However this really sucks, it's messy and not a hack I can live with.
So, does anyone else have this problem? I tried to contact Aldi, but their 'contact us' website forms block this… seems like you have to have personal injury or something serious like that to be worthy of their attention. Not just burning through hundreds of pods straight to landfill.
Cheers!
p.s. I like Aldi, I like Aldi coffee… I am only.here to solve an isolated issue.
My wife uses #11 Torino.
I make her coffee in the morning and I would say also 25% of the time the flow rate is terrible.
I flip the handle, collect the bloody hot capsule out of the tray, reinsert and close the handle with moderate force.
This method always works for me but as you say is a bit inconvenient.
I've just assumed that the more intense coffees are the culprit. Our machine is about 6 years old. I wonder if the newer ones have better piercing prongs or more psi at the pump.
Edit: just reread and saw your in-laws have new machine. There goes that theory.
