New Power Supply or PC?

Okay well today i decided clean out my room and also sort out my computer desk.
switched all the electricity, turned it back on KABOOM!!! sound came from my PC
so i did my research and i apparently blowed up the power supply.

so here is the go:

  1. buy a new power supply (hopefully its that, that has stuffed up)?
    -Or-
  2. buy a new cheap pc?

what i need from u ozbargainers?

  1. need to find a store somewhere in melb, that supplies cheap power supply for PC's
  2. a cheap bargin for a new PC

    Last time I bought a power supply (about a year ago) it cost me $90. You're not likely to get a PC for that.

    Cheapest psu from msy is $17

    Obviously make sure it fits your mb

    I bought an Antec VP450P for $52 from MSY on the weekend. (I only just realised that it's not the Neo Eco 450W that I actually asked for, which is $58 on their pricelist)

    I've previously bought a generic PSU and the build quality on the Antec is significantly better.
    Despite the mixup, the VP450 still gets good reviews and has comparable efficiency to the Neo Eco version.

    You should check it properly, It could be both Mainboard and Power Supply

    Wait for curbside cleanup when people are throwing out their old pcs, remove the power supplies from them.
