The best thing about Medvedev is that he’s not Djokovic.

He's a great tennis player, who can beat anyone on 'his day', but almost more importantly, he brings crazy intelligence to this sport. On and off the court.
All the sports are dominated by meaningless pap interviews, cover-ups and press releases. Not Med. or very few others.
So as tennis remains exciting for aficionados like me, it's not bringing in a lot of new fans.
The result is the love/hate thing with Nick's antics etc, and now this 'pickleball' craze.
I have never been able to reconcile my dislike for Djock-itch. Maybe it's the absolute single-mindedness of his goals or possibly his insincerity resulting from this (or just his personality).

unfortunately he is russian, and currently isn't a world favourite right now with what they are doing with Ukraine.
I like the fact that he has usually lost in the big matches to Nadal. Also that he beat Djoker in the US Open final 2 years ago.

Two things I like about him. He's from Russia, & he has a highly unusual playing style.
You like because he's Russian?? Weird.
And what's unusual about his playing style? He has a unusual technique but is just a baseliner (like almost every player now) with a two handed backhand.
Russian people as a whole are intelligent, traditional, closer to nature. I also like how their faces are mostly wide, open & have clear skin.
His forehand is unusual, almost Gulbis level of uniqueness. His playing style of standing so far back is highly unusual, & yet can be extremely effective.

The more I see of Medvedev, the more I like him as a player & person. After his loss at the USO final he said something to Djokovic at the net that made him laugh.
