Good price on this popular amp. These are great to breathe life into an old pair of speakers. I have the less powerful B10A which often sells for around this price, and can recommend it.

I should add that the advantages in the BT20A over the B10A are RCA connectors rather than 3.5mm. Also Bluetooth range is supposed to be better. But I also understand that it will automatically switch to Bluetooth if your phone is in range, which isn't ideal if listening to a CD!

It has been cheaper (last month $70.19 delivered)

Also, not a fan due to dodgy rep antics (Fosi Audio are currently banned from posting)

That was a black Friday Deal. Some people won't want to wait until the next one to save $4 :)

It's a worry they got called out but offered no explanation

I too have the BT10A (50W per channel) and I find it great for what the OP said. I power a set of old school stereo speakers in my shed, and it pushes them very well indeed. I recommend it as well. I am sure I paid this price for the BT10A's about a year ago, and today the same money gets the 100W units.

    • Mine is also in the shed. Connected to an unloved Blu-ray player, so I can play cds and MP3's instead of relying on bluetooth

    • +3

I'm using this one with power supply from external hard drive and with sony hi-fi speakers from broken multimedia system… I'd guess they are about 15-20W RMS… more than enough for backyard music https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001194120212.html?spm=a2g0o…

so what exactly are these amps for? so that we can use speakers with bluetooth connections? I CD player attached to a 70s style amp, can this replace that stack system?

    • +1

so that we can use speakers with bluetooth connections?

      Yes

    • +1

it's so you can drive a set of speakers without an old school amp, and to operate as a bluetooth receiver for those speakers. it also has a line in.

the use case is someone that has a set of passive (unpowered) speakers, a turntable or CD player, and wants to play music from their phone wirelessly. this enables that in a very small footprint and low budget.

For anyone who gets it. Buy banana plugs. The things you put the wire into are really close and its fiddly and annnoying. Save your sanity and get banana plugs

    • Agree. You also need an RCA to 3.5mm adapter or cable when connecting to an external source (e.g. CD and not Bluetooth). Also, it will connect automatically to the Bluetooth when your phone is in range..I didn't want this to happen, so just unscrewed the antenna

      • +1

How about unpairing your phone so it will refuse the connection? Or perhaps reset the amp so it has no paired devices. Then you can keep the antenna connected.

      • Also, it will connect automatically to the Bluetooth when your phone is in range

So then the advantage of better Bluetooth range isn't really an advantage?

  • Does it pop/bang?
    Does it have auto on/off?

    • If you are hearing your speakers bang/pop you are probably turning on your system in the wrong order (your amp should always be turned on last and turned off first), or you are sending a signal that is 'too hot' for your speakers.

  • What is the difference from aliexpress amps in a 30-40 dollars price range? seems to be the same.

    • ACCC warranty and easy returns.

      • Agree, I had one of these and the left channel stopped working within a few weeks, thankfully i could return easily and get a refund with Amazon. Worked well when it worked though.

    • Make sure they come with a power adaptor, otherwise you'll be spending another $20 or so once you get it

  • No remote for volume control, no DAC built in?

    • +4

How could there be no DAC if it accepts Bluetooth and outputs to speaker wire?

      • The image shows a DAC in the path from TV to this device, the blue circle. Unless that is meant to mean the DAC is built in.

        • +1

The top of the image is a group of audio sources. The arrows aren't coming from particular devices, they're just coming from "an audio source".

I think the image is just saying you have options. You can either use a DAC (with RCA output) to feed this amp, or directly feed it with RCA/Bluetooth connections to your device, or feed it via a pre-amp, and then it connects to speakers.

  • How do i connect a sub ? Or is this 2.0 ?

  • +1

I have this amp and use it to power a set of polk audio atrium 5 outdoor speakers. Works perfectly and have never had the Bluetooth switching issue suggested above.

  • -1

The Bluetooth codec on these is likely only SBC. So just be mindful of that. For better audio quality you'd want AAC (if using an apple device) or aptX/LDAC (if using others)

    • For better audio quality I'd recommend spending more than $75, or plugging a CD player into it :)

      • you have to spend A LOT more to get better sounding amp

    • +1

bluetooth chips are CSR - they support aptX

      • Was going to buy and saw this. "Like almost all mini amps with Bluetooth, the BT20A supports only the standard SBC Bluetooth audio codec, with no aptX or AAC compatibility."

        https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-mini-stereo-…

@desync do you have something that counters this. Was keen

        • oh wow… i stand corrected, when i was buying mine a few years ago aptx-hd was only available on the models with CSR bluetooh chip, maybe they pumped up the licencing costs or they are using lower spec CSR chips these days…

i bought mine for around 79 on ebay (doukmalll or doukaudio)

they have this one for $99 -
          https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/393356980529

mind you they are only giving a 19v power suppy with the unit, the power rating is based on a 24v power supply so at 19v you are going to only squeeze out about 160w RMS from the amp

you can also go directly to the store, might be able to get a 15% discount
          https://doukaudio.com/collections/digital-amplifier/products…

personally went for a 2.1 as i was pairing mine with small q-acoustic bookshelf speakers which really need to be supported with a sub

        • might be worth checking out this thread for updated models… as good as these 3116 chips are it looks like they may have been superseded

          https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/f…

  • the advantages in the BT20A over the B10A are RCA connectors rather than 3.5mm

Not much of an advantage as RCA to 3.5mm is cheap and easy.

Also Bluetooth range is supposed to be better.

These are a receiver so the Bluetooth range is more dependent on your Bluetooth device as that's doing the transmitting.

    • Every connector & adapter is a potential source of signal loss. If you can avoid an adaptor, it's generally a good thing

      • Can just use RCA to 3.5mm cables, not necessarily having a separate adapter

  • i am running a cheaper portable version of this for my parents home cinema, speakers are bluetoothed from a firestick that's plugged into an old 1080p benq projector to a pair of vintage danish speakers - sound great

model is a Nobsound NS-10G, you can find them for around $40 - these also have an inbuilt sound card so if you can hook them up to your PC via USB instead of using sound out, great if you sound card is burnt out, noisy, etc

i have a beefier douk audio 2.1 (50W+50W+100W RMS) unit powering a couple of q acoustics and sony passive sub on my PC, way overkill but sounds phenomenal for the $80 it set me back

these digital amps based on the TPA3116 chips are ridiculous bang for buck audio

  • This amplifier is extremely good, small, plenty of power. Mine has been fantastic

  • Gee, just bought one on amazon.au for $84.50

  • Are there any of these mini amps that come with HDMi to hook up to a tv? I don't think my tv will do Bluetooth and doesn't have rca outputs

    • +1

Try googling HDMI audio extractor. It's an extra device that you plug in that splits the audio from the video signal, and I guess it also has a DAC built in

    • Does your TV have a headphone output?

    • headphone out will work, most of these have an aux in, just check the specs

or like suggested get a hdmi audio extractor for $10

  • I just checked, it does have optical out. So I could try one of these amps with optical in and a universal remote to control volume

  • will this work with a pair of Krix Lyrix?

  • Does anyone have recommendations for an amplifier to power a '3.0' left-centre-right system for my desktop PC?
