Garmin Fenix 6 Sapphire with Vented Titanium Bracelet/Band $679.20 Delivered (Was $1549) @ David Jones

290

Garmin Fenix 6 Sapphire with Vented Titanium Bracelet - on sale for $849, but then a further 20% off in cart to bring it to $679.20.

I have the Fenix 6 Sapphire with Black Band and it's great for sports. Personally I don't think the titanium bracelet would be great for active people using this watch for lots of activities, but as a fashion accessory people may be drawn to the titanium band. You could always get this and get an extra sports style band to have both options.

A part of the same sale as Garmin Fenix 6 Sapphire Edition $559.20 Delivered @ David Jones.

RRP $1549 from Garmin
Vented Titanium Bracelet is $399 alone from Garmin

I can’t understand why people would want to pay so much for a garmin with the old elevate 3 sensor. Seems like all the sales at the moment are on older models of garmin, 2-3 yrs old or more. How long will these be supported for?

    • +2

pay so much? it's more than 1/2 off.

I don't think it will go down to $1.00 for you. ymmv

there are garmin models cheaper than this sale price, that have newer sensors… just saying…

        • +1

probably plastic and doesn't have a sapphire screen.

        • Yes - but the sensors in these Fenix 6 models are fine.

The 7 models are significantly more expensive.

          • @Nom: They're probably referring to things like the Forerunner 255. That's the only new-sensor model that's cheaper than this to my knowledge. Totally different watch, different build materials, etc, etc.

        • +1

The sensor isn't all you're paying for. Just saying.

More than half off… a hilariously inflated RRP that has no correlation with what people are actually paying for the watch. But don’t you worry about that little technicality.

        • It's not hilariously inflated - that $1549 price really is the RRP, and the watches are sold at this price !

          • -3

@Nom: Find me one person who's paid that. I'll wait.

            • @dwarves: Hey friendo, I work for a retail shop that sells these products and I can assure you, many people purchase these at launch at full price.

Obviously, you're not going to believe me, and I'm not going to dox myself or leak company sales data, so you're just going to plug your ears and tell me I'm lying.
              ¯_(ツ)_/¯

              • @Sleeqb7: LOL I believe you. But this watch was launched a loooooooooooong time ago. No-one's paying RRP now.

                • @dwarves: Gotcha, I thought you were suggesting nobody pays $1500+ for these watches, but I see now you meant that nobody is paying RRP for that model these days, which is accurate and fair.

    • Seems like a valid thing to point out. Upvoted.

  • Does it have a backlit display?

    • Yep, the top left button is the Light button.

    • It's an e ink style display so you don't need a backlight to see it in daylight, it's always on and has excellent battery life (up to a couple of months if you don't use GPS).
It does have a backlight for seeing it in the dark though.

  • Is solar on sale as well or nah?

  • Shows as $1549 for me.

    • Looks to be sold out now - pricing reverts back once stock is gone!

Looks to be old stock, decent price but goes to this price every year, the RRP seems to be false the Garmin Fenix 7 Solar https://www.garmin.com/en-AU/p/735573 alot cheaper in RRP doesnt matter if its the 7S 7 or 7X even the saphire solar is cheaper than david jones rrp

Watch out, bigmac got torn to shreds for some reason for criticising the deal.

    • +1

Agree it's a Fenix 6 not the current 7 series.

However the comparable 7 series is actually $1749: fēnix® 7 – Sapphire Solar Edition
Carbon Grey DLC Titanium with Carbon Grey DLC Vented Titanium Band
. Of course, it could be due to the 7 having solar and other improvements where the 6 posted does not. But it doesn't discount the fact that the RRP was $1549 for this Fenix 6.

Realistically the difference in the item posted vs most (all?) of the other Fenix 6 Sapphire deals over the last 12 months is purely the band, which is $399 if you buy it on it's own. Do people want that? It's up to them. Is it worth it? Up to them. It seems like enough people thought it was desirable given it sold out.

  • I own this watch. I purchased this watch 3 years ago. It is good, however, I am not going to upgrade it to Fenix 7 given there is not substantial upgrade from Fenix 6. However, I am considering Apple Watch Ultra this year. I think the upcoming new Apple Watch Ultra this year will be better than Fenix 7.

  • Thanks OP, I ordered this 6 days ago and managed to get the difference refunded by DJs.
I upgraded from a 5 plus that had corroded charging terminals… figured the titanium band was worth it if I can utilise it on future Garmin watches.
I was surprised to find this also comes with an orange silicone strap
    Cheers
