This phone was $399 about 2 weeks ago. For $26 more you can buy Google Pixel 6a.

    That's quite expensive for $449
You only get 60hz screen and a snapdragon 750G, UFS 2.1

I purchased the lenovo Y70 from Aliexpress from the 11:11 deal for $489 and it came with
144Hz screen butter smooth, snapdragon 8+1, 8K recording, UFS 3.1

109,000 antutu test. 5,100 mah battery last for 2 days heavy uses, charges in 45 minutes. Camera is perfect, gaming never gets hot, never lags. Not a single hiccup ever since i got it on the 19th November last year.

    • You get 45 cameras though!!

    • found this link, but looks like no google play?

I bought it from Aliexpress with their yearly sale where they give you a $50 discount.

        It's not on sale now.
I personally like the phone, but i dont know if i can recommend a phone you buy from overseas, warranty will be harder if there is a problem. That is why it's so much cheaper.

        • no google play? how to install it? custom rom?

      • +1

Mine has google play. They will install it for you.

Got google services, i installed google maps, gmail, youtube revanced, innertunes apk, vimusic

        Bottom right corner.

        • how much was the final cost after discount?

        • was the bootloader unlocked?

          • @[Deactivated]: I'm not sure what bootloader is. Phone works right out of the box and the ui is smooth. I put the animations to 0.5x in developer options and it's really fast. I dont plan to put on a custom rom or anything. it works perfect.

I paid just under $500 for the phone but had a coupon for $30usd off.

It's probably $550 now if you add import fees in.

            • @thugmander91: my phone is only 1/3rd of your score lol. maybe time to upgrade.

              • +2

@[Deactivated]: before you make the decision, just take into consideration that if you buy from overseas then warranty will be harder if there is a problem.

Buying from australia it's easier to return for warranty.

                • @thugmander91: you probably should post a deal of this lenovo phone, 1 million antutu is massive.

don't worry about chinese tablet/phone. Clear has been spewing heaps of deals every day of chinese stuffs.

                  • +1

@[Deactivated]: a $500 dud is pretty expensive to swallow , but that's subjective to everyone

    • That image shows 1.09 million on antutu. thought 109k looked a little low.

      • yeah 1 million, unreal. mine is only 300k lol.

    • Lenovo phones, haven't seen them mentioned here for ages.

The last was the good old ZUK series.

    • Does the Lenovo Y70 NFC work outside of china ? I guess it doesn't come with memory sd card slot which seems to be a trend.

This has been $399 a couple of times previously. Bought it from Big W in one of the deals.
Decent phone which is cheap and ticks a lot of boxes (lots of storage, 5G, wireless charging)

    • Yep I got it for 399 and use it as a hotspot and offline mini movie player in a pinch.

Threw a MagSafe ring sticker on the back and it charges same as my iPhone mini. Pretty awesome features if you don’t want to game or need peak CPU or camera

      Underscreen fingerprint reader
      NFC google pay, wireless charging.
Battery life is great. Hence why I use it as a wifi hotspot while my iPhone would be a potato in short time

Really it’s all about the display which is awesome
Don’t expect updates past purchase month however

  • Specs are pretty meh

  • My TCL 20L+ started developing lines on screen with 3 months. Got worse and repair warranty took forever (more than a month). Had to push thru for consumer warranty claim to get a result.

    • +2

TCL's support is fairly lacking from my experience also. Not due to a repair, but just asking basic information about another one of their products and if it worked with this phone.

Spent about 2 weeks on an email chain going in circles, wanting to know if the Australian model (of this phone) is compatible with their USB-C personal cinema glasses (the NXTWEAR 'G'). The first actual response other than asking for a several details about the phone I owned (all in separate emails, not all at once..) was that "it should be compatible because they are both android and use Bluetooth".. which they aren't. Turns out they were googling the product and got confused some how thinking I was talking about Google Glass (which I didn't even think was a thing anymore?), even though I'd been specifically stating 'TCL NXTWEAR G' all through out, and had come through the support link for 'TCL NXTWEAR G'. The next response after that, was that "it should definitely work, it's the same brand", to which I had to push further as there was information available that said only one of the several country variants of the TCL 20 Pro actually support USB-C display. After then being asked the same details about my device again from the start of the chain, and again over multiple emails and not just the one, they said I needed to speak with the support team that specifically handles the 'TCL NXTWEAR G', as they are just the mobile phone support team. I then had to link them to the support page for 'TCL NXTWEAR G' and inform them that they are the support team 🫠

I never got a reply after that, even after multiple "just wanting to touch base in regards to the previous enquiry" emails..

I still don't know if they are compatible, though I don't believe they are, as i'm 99% sure the Australian variant doesn't support USB-C display output..

  • My partner and I have these (have had them since about may last year? managed to price match HN down to 399 and still get the $100 GCs, so i guess we paid 299 ea), one blue one grey, they work pretty well, great screens. I think the only gripe we've had with them is having to re-do the fingerprint scanner a couple of times to get it right. This was the first in-screen fingerprint scanners we'd had, so my guess is it was the angle we were using when setting them up (holding the phone in one hand, scanning with the other, instead of holding the phone the way we would be holding it when actually unlocking it - in one hand scanning with that same hand).

  • Expensive

  • +1

But…. Its been $399 as has been stated, why would you pay more now?

  • I don't think this is a really good deal, much better out there in that price point, usually they compromise on one thing but the rest is okay, for some reason this compromises on everything - cant comment on camera performance but quoted numbers dont mean much.. 60hz display, mid tier chip, the manufacturer doesn't fill me with confidence as far as updates go, wouldn't surprise me if the android it shipped with is the only android it will get(newer would probably tank performance anyway) so the security issues that come with outdated software. Id stretch for the google pixel 6a personally.
