Needing Video Editing Software Recommendations Please!

There are so many video editing tools out there I'd love to hear what your go to is and why?

I have a go pro hero 5 (novice here) I'd like to start using more but am intimidated by all the options for editing! I really just need to slice the videos but I didn't stabilise the go pro so i also need something for that too…

Ideally free or free trial to a low cost easy to use program but just interested to hear everyone's thoughts thanks!

Have given hitfilm a go but I attempted to trial the stabilisation and failed…

      +1 for Davinci Resolve.

Free and basically production grade. I would say pretty intuitive to use.

Plus loads of video tutorials to guide you through specific tasks you might like to do.

I started with Premiere Pro and switched to Davinci Resolve - it's a great product.

    • Yep, this

    • Wow very popular choice will give this one a go. Thank you everyone for your suggestions!

Adobe is a good choice but it's a big money and time investment especially if you want to learn the other apps. You can get around the money investment, but there's no getting around having to actually learn how to use it.

Are you editing on Windows, Mac, iPad or something else? That’ll affect suggestions.

    • Good point thanks! Just on windows

      • If you do want to edit on iPhone/iPad then I'd recommend LumaFusion.

Always check the company providing the hardware that records video, they usually provide free video editing software, in this case, GoPro have a desktop software called GoPro Quik for Desktop

If you've got a spare laptop lying around, consider putting Ubuntu Studio on it. It's free & has a suite of programs for video/audio editing. It might take some getting used to, but then again what doesn't.
