Dreame W10 Region lock issue

Hi,

Dreame W10 cannot be accessed through the Mi home app recently, get's a message saying "the current region does not match the model"

Purchased from Ebay about 8 months ago, was working fine until recently.

My regeion setting has been Singapore as the ebay seller instructed saying this would get the latest firmware update, but regardless which region I chosse I was working fine. Now I change region to Australia or Singapore it all shows the error message.

I think this may be a App or firmware update issue that blocks use.

Anyone experienced same issue and hava a fix?

  • What if you set your region to China? Some Xiaomi products require it.

    • Changing to China doesnt work, and if change to China, the whole app changes in a lot of ways

    Please note, from January 2022, all Dreame robot vacuum cleaners will have a mobile app region block restriction. 



    What does the mobile app region block restriction do? 

    If you purchase any Dreame robot vacuums that are either a) not an official Australian model, or b) not via an authorised retailer, you will not be able to sync your device with the ‘Mi Home’ mobile app, and therefore, cannot use features provided through the app.

      this is such not fair, lots of people purchased it from ebay without knowing it has a region lock or it won't work in australia, at that time there was no officially release in Australia. And the system lets you choose Australia as location and worked.

      if they set a region lock, it should be from launch not half way through, especially when the app lets you choose australia location and used to work well, then suddenly one day says now we have a region lock and stopped working

        I’m on the same boat.
        I think they have “upgraded” their region lock by using IP address.
        I bought a W10 Pro from Taobao and shipped it over before the disclaimer was published. Now it’s almost useless with no access to the app.
        Lots of people on productreview.com also experiencing the same issue, and not getting feedback from Dreame Australia.

        I’m going to try to set up VPN to connect to China and see how that goes.

        • Update: saw someone posting the same issue on a Chinese Australian forum called OurSteps. I have tried the free VPN they suggested and worked.
          I think it kind of “activates” it, now even use it without the VPN. Not sure how long it’s gonna last though.

          The VPN is called Transocks which you may find in AppStore.

            Did you also change region in Mi home app to China?

  • I'm in exactly the same boat. Use to work till recently. I don't even know where I bought it from. Dreame should honor their products. They were not stolen, someone had to buy them originally so they got paid. Total scumbags. My next product will definitely not be Dreame. Dreame? More like nightmare.

  • They did reply me via [email protected] but just gave complete BS answer, not even mentioning the region lock, which was put in with the last automatic software update. They just told me to reset it. I have android so will look for a VPN tool.

  • Transocks is on android also. Tried it, did the free registration, tried both singapore regions, didn't work - couldn't get past the BS region lock.

    I tried the dreame official app - it couldn't find the model with or without VPN on.
