Hi guys, I'm in a 14 year old house and some of the garden edging around the place is looking pretty dated, worn out, breaking up, or has sunk into the ground so the edging is not showing as much as I would like .. one photo as an example: https://imgur.com/fAyysqu
I'm thinking of digging up the existing wooden sleepers, getting some new 150 x 50mm Treated Pine Sleepers from Bunnings, and sticking these in. Current wooden sleepers are 120 x 40mm so these new Bunnings ones will be 3cm higher which is good.
I will run the new wooden sleepers just along the yellow section: https://imgur.com/Q2GU3L4
Do I need to stain these wooden sleepers from Bunnings? Any other tips or things I should do or keep in mind when undertaking this project?
FYI, I have zero DIY skills.
Thanks!
That curved area will be your only hurdle and will require multiple cuts.
No further treatment of sleepers required.
Get yourself a hand saw, eat your Weet bix, and you'll be good to go. Lay your wheelie bins on their sides to create a makeshift workbench to cut the sleepers.
A cheap post hole shovel will help make the existing cavity bigger to drop in the new larger pieces.
Most importantly have fun and gain some confidence to tackle new DIY projects.
