Ergohuman Plus Elite V2 Mesh Office Chair - $669 (RRP $749) + Shipping @ Temple and Webster

150

I've been eyeing off this and the Herman Miller Aeron for the past few months. Terrible timing as both chairs have had a considerable price hike.

$150 shipping kills this deal for me in W.A. but others may benefit from the $80 discount.

Physically sit on this chair before you buy. I made this mistake during peak covid and bought sight unseen. I knew straight away the lower part of the back, the lumbar support, didn't feel comfortable but I just put up with it for 6 months like an idiot. I sold it on FB Marketplace for 75% loss and got a 2nd hand Herman Miller Aeron which has slowly fixed my back pain.
Sometimes, you shouldn't skimp or rush into something, a Chair or Mattress is one of them.

Good advice. Its a pity this chair didn't work for you, my friend loves it, but I'm not in a state where I can try it so I'll take your advice and stick to what I can sit on first!

      • On the flip side, a lot of what you can sit on in Officeworks or wherever is just rebranded Chinese stuff that looks fine but breaks in a year. I have the chair in the post (but with the leather bottom variant) and love it, had it for years, got friends and family to buy them too no one had any issues and holding up great and never sat in in first.

The chair didn't cause the back pain and the new chair wont fix it either. You have (had?) back pain because you're likely sitting for too long - irrespective of the chair - and your back pain is getting better because you're now likely moving more consistently throughout the day as part of your everyday life. The biggest cause of lower back pain outside of trauma is sedentary lifestyles.

Anyhoo, I want to balance this comment by stating that the Aeron chairs are some of the least comfortable chairs I've sat in at that price range. This is not a criticism of the chair, but rather a nod to the fact that everyone's anatomy is different and just cos someone on OzB says "this is comfy" doesn't mean you'll also find it comfy. This is especially true if you have a funky lordotic curve; are heavier than most; are shorter/taller than most, etc.

I feel like you know my past and can predict my future. Yes this chair did cause me back pain. Like I said, the lumbar was digging into me and I put up with it longer than I should have.
A new chair which didn't dig into me, fixed it.

Lovely, so literally any chair that doesn't "dig into you" would fix it? Hell yeah dude, could've bought a $30 chair instead of a Aeron I guess.

Pro-tip: nociception (pain) caused by an increase in pressure to your lumbar region doesnt linger for more than a few minutes after the stimulus is gone. To say that your back is "slowly getting fixed" is factually not how your body or anyone elses' body works. Your back is feeling better because you're moving more

have this chair, love this chair

I've had this chair for about 1.5 years and it's been good, it replaced an Ikea chair that was making my back stiff. I'm surprised that the seat mesh has held up given that I sit on this thing for working from home 8+ hours a day every day. The only real issue I've had is that the adjustable arm rests will "rattle" a bit as if they're not solidly put together, even though I've tightened every bolt I have access to multiple times. But I am happy with it, it's not a Herman Miller but I feel like I've gotten my money's worth with this

I know what you mean with the arm rest. Had this chair for 6 + yeard and had to replace the armpad a month ago.

Thats when i found there is a screw you can tighten.

You need to undo 4 screws under the armpad . Or visit ergo human site to download how to replace arm rest

  • My ergohuman gas strut failed after 3 years and 2 weeks. Just out of warranty.

  • Somewhat similar design to this chair is the Haworth Zody II, which retails (at OW) for around $900 but I somehow snagged a floor model (apparently it was a return, but looked mint to my eye) for $550, which I'd sat in in-store for an hour before pulling the trigger, haha. Strongly recommend it, but also strongly recommend trying any chair.

    • Lol almost 3.5times isn't a little bit more. This is a great chair and so is the aeon…but at 2k. No chance. Heaps of chairs that are less than 1k that would suffice. But hard for some as these chairs are hardly stocked outside of major cities to try

  • I have the seat V1 model of This brand since 2013. The arm on the left was broken this year.I remember this one was 8 year warranty but that expired too, even the ebay store where I bought the chair is no more. I repaired it myself and it can still be used…

  • Got mine in 2012 from Milan Direct. A bolt broke after a year and they sent me a replacement which seemed to have iterated on that weakness. Still using it today. Wouldn't mind getting a replacement if my current one breaks but I can wait for lower prices.

  • 20APP - $20 off via app, or $20 off with newsletter sign up

  • I have the Luxury Boost. Had spine problem, and replaced my cheap OW chair with it. I found the seat a little hard, and the build slightly rough with loose tolerances, but I think it's really helped me to get into better posture habits whilst doing computer work. Tilted back with the leg rest out it is the most comfortable seat we have in our home.

  • I've got this chair - quite comfortable

  • It’s my office chair… can’t complain but doesn’t feel any great either

  • Have had this chair for 2 years now and so far so good. Wish lumbar support was a bit stiffer (though my back is broken, so YMMV - Family members that have used it have been happy with the level of lumbar support the chair supplies). The mesh is still like the day I unboxed it. Do definitely recommend.

  • If you really really sit long hours work + play games, Herman Miller is really worth double this chair's price. I went from this to HM earlier this year, no regrets!

  • I want this chair so bad but I was hoping it would go down to 2020 prices for like $550
