i wanted that titanium eco drive for $199 but that thankfully sold out before i could develop fomo

  • I bought my ball in ice blue as its a beautiful dial colour.
I think these colours work really well on watches. Glad they are gaining momentum

I have to say the black rotating bezel doesn't work with that beautiful blue though

    • +1

Yeh i have to agree after seeing your watch. It's ok for the yellow though.

      • +1

Yep the yellow works beautifully with the black. Bumblebee approach is quite nice

  • Thanks OP got one.

  • I don't think the NJ0170-83Z is "Ozbargain Orange", on Starbuy it says Canary Yellow.

    • haha but much like the other one's not strictly tiffany blue either ;)

  • Thanks OP!

  • One of the Citizens or are the Aragons a better buy with having a swiss movement?- https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/745838

    • i'd get an aragon for the lume alone, but that's just me

    • Totally different price bracket so not really comparable. Plus the difference in thickness (Aragon 14mm) doesn't sound like much on paper but in reality it's huge. You'd have to like chunky watches to buy the Aragon.

      • Totally different price bracket

        $320 vs $230??

        • +1

$230 delivered compared to $320 + $50 delivery = $370. So yes, totally different price bracket. Getting dangerously close to double the money.

  • Thanks OP, I missed out last time but now got the tiffany blue dial

  • How do you know there's only 13 remaining?

    • +1

added 30 to cart, get message there's not enough stock, try lower number(s)

  • What's the lug to lug on these?

    • apparently it's 49mm, according to https://youtu.be/g60HQ4XpRc4?t=150

      • Thanks. A couple mm too big for me then :(

        • come to think of it, my casioak is about the same, and it fits (just) on my skinny wrists. guess it depends on the bracelet/strap as well.

          • @tdw: I haven't tried a Casioak on mostly due to concerns on sizing. Might have to try it on instore somewhere. I've got 6.25" wrists for context

@Emblex: "I haven't tried a Casioak on mostly due to concerns on sizing."

There are smaller face versions. They have a S in the model number.

If you go to the Casio global G shock lineup https://www.casio.com/intl/watches/gshock/
Sort by "weight light to heavy" and you can find them all at the top.
They sell metal case mods for the S models too on Aliexpress. I was thinking of doing the mod myself but ended up backing out.
I wanted the screwless metal case, but many Aliexpress listings showing that case had negative reviews saying they got the multiple screw version.
Last time I checked metal case+silicone band mod kits were $70 to $80.

Of course you could go for the authentic metal case version from Casio such as GM-S2100CH-1A which I think looks really nice.
              https://www.casio.com/intl/watches/gshock/product.GM-S2100CH…

Personally I liked the idea of how a mod kit metal case with no screws and no G shock logo would look.

              • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: Thanks appreciate the knowledge sharing. I've always liked the idea of adding a G Shock to the collection but I feel like it'll be competing with my Garmin for when I'm out and about, and also because there's a huge selection to choose from it gets a bit overwhelming.

Do you know if there are any G Shocks that have stats tracking that can be linked to an app and is smaller in size? Feels like this would be unlikely based on some of what I've looked at previously. Cheers!

@Emblex: But the Casioak series doesn't do any fitness tracking at all so I thought you were after a normal watch. I assumed you wanted the Casioak for it's aesthetic.

But if you want more. G shock does have fitness tracking and GPS models. If you want equivalent tracking to a Garmin with Heartrate sensor and GPS though it will be chunky.
If you are happy with just step/distance tracking (no heartrate, no GPS) and syncing with the G shock Move App, there is the GBD200 series which is slim and light on the wrist. Keep in mind though the G shock Move App is not as good as Garmin's App.

I have a G shock that syncs to the G shock Move App and the bluetooth is also a bit patchy. It uses Bluetooth Low energy (LE) to preserve energy otherwise the watch would not last 1-2 years on a coin battery, so the watch often disconnects from the phone if it detects no movement and while I have not had any issues personally plenty of customer feedback seems to say the connection is unreliable compared to a proper fitness watch with rechargeable battery such as a Garmin or Suunto.
Also obviously the G shock display will be a black and white MIP display which will not be as detailed or colorful as Garmin or Suunto options.
It also turns out slightly cheaper to buy a Garmin or a Suunto if comparing apples to apples.

If you understand these short comings the chunky G shock GBDH1000 model with heartrate and GPS is on sale for half price right now at Gshock Australia official, I was going to post it as a deal but let me know if you are interested and I will not post it for another 12 hours.
Here is the sizing spec I am talking about though 63.0×55.0×20.4mm/101g. So yeah very chunky and heavy compared to even a full size Casioak.

                  • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: Thanks, yeah I was initially responding to Casioak but have tried to explore G Shock range in the past. Appreciate you sharing that watch. I think it will look a bit ridiculous on my wrist, I've tried on some of the larger ones in the past and wasn't quite for me. I'll keep an eye out and wait til my Garmin needs to be replaced.

Yeah I had a feeling you would say it's way too big lol if Casioak was already too big for you. So I posted the deal early.

Deal of the Day - Citizen Auto NJ0176-10E $199.00 delivered

    • Ouch that is a beautiful black watch

  • Anyone order this watch and can't get the bracelet off? I got mine and want to swap bracelet with black rubber but the spring pins can't be removed

    • +1

I'm not an expert on metal watches. But not all watches use spring bars.

I believe some require the actual bar to be pushed out sideways using a thinner tool.
And there are probably more different ones I don't know about that require a special tool.

      • Yes I think you're right. I went to a 3rd shoe/watch repair place today and the guy recommended I visit a professional watch/jewellery guy to see if it can be removed with different tools cos it's probably not a typical spring bar

        • +1

Yeah from what I've seen on youtube. People who are into metal watches actually don't like spring bars because there is a chance they can come loose, but those which are trickier (like yours) or friction fit are much harder to remove so it is very difficult for the band to come off. Which is what you want for an expensive watch.
