Using 27 Inch Monitor as 2nd Screen with MacBook Air

I am using a Display Port to thunder port cord to use my 27 inch monitor as a second screen for my MacBook air (M1).

Currently the monitor displays the MacBook screen in a 1 to 1 size which is fine but is there a way to have it use more of the 27 inch real-estate?

  Apple>System Preferences>Display

  Look what it is set to there.

  If you set it to an extended display it should display the native res
