Those are good prices, surprisingly for direct from Vornado.

    Might be useful to some:

The 660 is $149.99 at Costco.

I tried to price match it at JB today, they offered it to me for $160. That along with $10 perks voucher and discounted gift cards, ended up cheaper at JB.

I'm imagining these circulation fans are super loud - louder than "regular" fans. Is that right? Or are they quieter? Or same? Or move more air for the same noise?

I don't like it when the air in the bedroom sits still on warm nights. Just a bit of movement to it would be nice, without directly blowing on me, but I don't like running my full ducted aircon system all night (even if I am just running it on fan only mode on low speed). Is a circulator what I should be looking for?

Something like this is good on low for your use case. They are amazingly quiet for what they are, especially the DC versions.

Flat out it will be quite loud, like any fan.

They are proportionally loud to the volume of air they are moving …

I got the DC one with the variable speed knob and it's the quietest fan I've ever owned on the lower settings where the blade is just ticking over but if you turn it to high it sounds like an airport but also feels like a tornado..

I also have one that just has the three settings, this one is quite loud on the lowest setting.

I have 660, they are loud but ok for living room to move the hot air. for bedroom, recommend DC

We got the DC 660 through TGG commercial for, roughly, $175 and it is brilliant. If the temperature drops overnight you can pump the cold air into the room and direct it to the roof, it cools the air down in the room. The DC version is pretty quiet at the lower levels.

If you want it to move lots of air, it's going to be relatively noisy. Having said that, if you buy the DC motor model (I own the Vornado 633DC), you can turn the knob to a low speed and it'll be very quiet, with just a gentle breeze blowing.

I highly recommend getting the DC models, they cost about $40-50 more than the non-DC equivalents but are well worth it IMO.

And yes, if you want gentle movement of air, an air circulator like these ones from Vornado will do the trick.

I was shopping for a Vornado few days ago and turned to Amazon for the 633DC for $209, 19% off.
Vornado 660 is 27% off at $189 on Amazon too.

    • +1

If you have TGG commercial the 633DC is there for $170.

  • How much power do these things use?

    • Vornado 533 Small Air Circulator
See specs for rough guide. Watts: 23-37-56 (For 3 different speeds I'd imagine)

Don't ask for the 633. It's got 1 listing for Watts.

Wtf do companies not list KW/h usage at all speeds and audio dB rating for each. It just seems like slackness from an engineering and sales POV.

Was gonna buy but chose not too considering it wasn't DC version and I've never seen in action either. 40 dB for the 633 lowest sounds good but 55 dB for 533 sounds crappy.
