Looking into getting a decent quality straw hat. Is the Bunnings one for $7 the best value out there or is there better options out there?

You'll need a custom hat to fit those ears, JV.
Bunnings is as good as any, and certainly the cheapest. They're all ultimately made of grass and therefore will fall apart the minute you accidentally sit on them.

Not a fan of Bunnings hat, only made for small heads
+1 for the Bunnings hat. Cheap, effective, plenty in stock if someone sits on it.
Bunnings hat is cheap and does the job, but I agree with Nubzy. Way too small for my head. not suited for those with big brain

Good luck finding anything with any decent quality or a lid for daily wear that will last near or over a year.
I gave up trying all sorts…with the mess in the car, and them failing shortly getting wet.
The bucket or giggle hat lasts but does not offer the same sun protection. So on the the goo to stop burnt ears n nose.Please advise if you do find a ripper long lasting hat for a fair price.
I've found that taking the hat on & off with one hand on the 'front top' is what leads to breakages.
I get a year out of my straw hats regardless of brand
