I feel more calm and relaxed already after deciding I'm not going to be paying $160 for a meditation app

    • +3

      100%

    • +5

It vibrates to relax you, tells you to breath, plays some sounds lol. $600 RRP never seen a bigger load of sh*t

It vibrates to relax you, tells you to breath, plays some sounds

There’s other devices that’ll do this without costing $600 haha.

  • Seems to be for apple users only, should mention that

    • +3

Apple users would definitely be the right demographic for this kind of app

    "$600 RRP"

    Come on. Really?

    • Poor intern accidentally put extra 2 zeros

  • Has anyone tried it?

    • -2

Not me, but some people have supported another person to get rich.

    • +1

I've tried it and use it regularly. First year is free anyway, so that's a decent trial period.

    • I have and after the first year trial I paid to upgrade to the lifetime subscription. Well worth it.

You can read my other comment below for a summary on how I found it and thoughts on some of the alternatives. Hope that helps.

    Thanks op, bought 5!

It is a bit expensive but you can't put a price on it when you loose your head and panic/anxiety takes over and all you want is for it to go away.
I use calm on Android which I purchased for $80 from memory.

If I’m reading it right, they are giving 1 year free subscription with every download at moment.

I’d say it would be more logical to use the 1 year free to see if it’s for you then if it is wait for their next discounted lifetime subscription.

    • This is what I did. Now as I am coming to end of free year I am getting this offer.

The app is good but I'm not paying 160

    • The first year free has been available for a few years.

      • So much for their advertising of “limited time offer: get your first year free”.

    • It's a great idea to try it first and that's what I did too. The only slight risk of waiting a year is if they were to end the 65% (or 75% right now) discount offer, but I'd be surprised if they didn't run sales again.

I personally did the one year and then upgraded to lifetime. Great app 🙂

Just get yourself Insight Timer, which is free community based guided meditations of all kinds and languages.

    https://apps.apple.com/au/app/insight-timer-meditation-app/i…

They do have a premium section that focuses on courses, but it doesn’t take away from the main section where you find all the guided meditations for free.

Can't wait to be using this app when I'm 90

  • The app is good (been using the one year free trial), but not worth what they're asking. The personalisation is pretty superficial and feels like a gimmick rather than something that's helpful for your meditations. If you're looking for something similar, use the Medito app which is free and run by a non-profit.

    Edit: currently $136.99 on Android.

I did the free trial and then let it lapse waiting to see if they did the 75% off discount again which they did (extra 10% discount on top of the 65% they normally were offering. That was only for 3 days last year because they won Google's overall Android app of the year).

On Android it's now $136.99 for a lifetime subscription.

I tried all of the free ones people recommend during that break, like Smiling Mind, Medito, etc as I'd rather save the money and they're great for free, but nowhere near as relaxing, fluid or comprehensive as Balance. Because of that, I seem to use Balance every day, whereas I didn't feel to as much with the free ones so there's value in that itself due to the benefits of daily meditation.

I would definitely preferred it was cheaper, but lots of people would emotionally eat, drink, shop, or whatever when they're stressed, so it doesn't take long in cost savings and quality of life to recoup $137.

It's one of the only apps I've ever paid for and definitely worth doing the free 1 year trial alone if nothing else 🙂

I did technically get it a bit cheaper as I bought Google Play cards off Amazon for 10% off.. it is Ozbargain after all 🤣

    • Great review, I very much feel the same way about Balance. I also have Google Play credit that I bought at 10% off but I'm still not paying the $136 for the lifetime subscription. I feel it should be priced closer to $100 .

I really enjoyed the year free trial but I'm just meditating now without an app until I find something else or the price drops enough.

      • Thanks and it's definitely on the expensive side I agree. I held out for a while too! When I thought about how expensive some yearly subscriptions are and even their annual subscription is, then considering it's "lifetime" (usual risks) then it's not too bad.

Of course they could change their mind, but they did say the 75% would be the deepest discount on the foreseeable future when I asked.

For the sake of $37 or even less with Google Play discounts it's barely a few coffees, so probably still worth it in the long run anyway 🙂

If you do find anything as good though let me know. It's handy having some cheap, or free apps to recommend to friends and family.

        • Do you know if I can buy it on Android, and use the paid version on both an Android and an iPhone with the login?

          • @aton: Great question. I'd like to think you should be able to, but I have seen apps where that's not the case, so I'd probably drop them an email to make sure. They were pretty quick to respond when I contacted them about something so should be easy to find out 🙂

            • @mrbargainz: OK. Thanks. I have phones on both OS, so it would be handy.
