Hi all
I have an elderly parent house bound with cancer. I bought them a Amazon 4k max as I have one and it’s seems intuitive enough to learn as they have zero tech experience and we’re frustrated with free to air.
I signed them up to a trial of Amazon Prime and I’m finding lots of movies still require a fee to watch. The two most common being from Paramount and Disney. Some shows also link to Tubi TV. I’ve only used my fir YouTube.
I’m trying to get them the most at the cheapest. I haven’t watched much tv in years and previously used Kodi with ‘add ons’; it was free but temperamental and would be too confusing for them.
I’m happy to side load a trusted app if it’s not insecure or purchase a subscription for them but I don’t want to be paying for multiple subscriptions.
Suggestions?
Netflix, Disney+ and Youtube Premium seem to offer the best values to me personally. If no kids are watching they may even get away with just Netflix and Youtube.
If you’re tech savvy enough you can get Turkey/Argentina subscriptions for Netflix (~$7/month), Disney (~$30/year) or Youtube Premium (~$3-5/month). Set up once and forget. Do a search on Ozbargain for instructions.
Also with the Fire Stick I prefer to go into each app for their contents as the compiled home page can be very confusing and (annoyingly) shows both free-with-subscription and extra-fees contents
